Figured we should start putting some info out about some guys we think should come here. I know that @CuriousHusker has also been on the Autry train for a while. This guy just makes a lot of sense. Autry has played for Terrell Williams, the Lions new defensive line coach, for the last three seasons.

“With Williams as his position coach, Autry posted 28.5 sacks, 30 tackles for loss and 54 quarterback hits in 46 games with the Titans. Despite turning 33 last summer, his three-year stint in Tennessee was the best three-year statistical span of his career. In 2023, Autry had a career-high 50 combined tackles, including 12 tackles for loss and 17 quarterback hits. He also had 4 pass defenses and 2 forced fumbles to go with his 11.5 sacks.*”

Pro Football Focus projected Autry to land a 1-year contract worth $7.25 million. This is a guy that could play outside on the early downs and then move inside on third down to create a ton of havoc like he has done in the past. I really would like to see this type of shrewd move made and bring in a guy like this.

At that cost an with his coach now with Lions I like it for a year. He can likely show few things to Hutch an Houston. I still want a younger guy . But yes at that cost would work for me . May sign him an draft a Edge like Marshawn Kneeland 603 268 if he lasts to rd 5

Actually in honor of Brad I’m going to get a custom Lions Jersey with the number Zero and the name “F$cks Given”.

I’ll probably staple the receipt to the back of the jersey for emphasis.

Not sure that’s a great idea. From what I understand even Minimum Crosby was too much for Stephen Stills and Graham Nash.

I pissed some people off when I last mentioned this but one move that I could see happening is Marcus Davenport on a one year prove it.

  • Brad loves his buy low off of injury moon shots
  • Dan and AG know the player well
  • Since he entered the league in 2018, Davenport’s 17.8% pass-rush win rate and 13.9% pressure percentage are both top-20 marks among edge defenders (prior to 2023)

I don’t think we depend on the guy but if:

A:) Brad and AG feels like he passes the turd test
and
B:) he’ll time a Moseley like deal

Then I could see it happening. Not as a focal point of the offseason but as a roll of the dice auxiliary piece.

This deserves it’s own thread as a free agent target. Davenport has been in my cross hairs for a long time as the perfect fit opposite Hutchinson.

This really does seem like a great match, man if we can get into that pocket we’re going to drop throwing time in a shallow bucket.

He was a guy I thought was a decent flyer last year, but thought his price may be high. After another injury plagued season, I doubt he is going to get much of any guaranteed cash and his deal will be heavily incentive laden.

At his peak and healthy, he is probably one of the 20 best edge defenders in the game.

I get it’s a dice roll, but if it hits it will make a massive difference.
