Lions and not Lions……So I’ve been looking for a new podcast to listen to.
I listen to all the relevant Lions ones. Mostly Locked on Lions because it’s always up to date. I hate checking out a Lions podcast and seeing the last one is several weeks old.
I’m on music mostly given the time of year. But I’ll listen to the Athletic Football Podcast when we get to camp. I’ll start listening to draft podcasts soon here even though I mostly hate them (the execution not the underlying content). Those pre-season nuggets on the skill position guys function as a foundational pillar of my college fantasy football prep. And last year @Thats2 bribed Amari Daniels to drop a game winning four yard TD pass and stole last year’s championship from me so sleeves must be rolled up.
I’m saying that @That2 has spent much of his life in Oklahoma and Texas. Therefore he has developed an unfair advantage due to his geographic familiarity with the dark art of bribery.
If it has anything to do with the Lions I check it out. Can’t remember the one Risdon does……DLP maybe? But anything he does is usually my favorite.
I’ll watch crunch time sports and Lone wolf with the Doc but only because there’s nothing else to watch. Those guys just have opinions and not much else.
The stuff Jeremy Reisman does too is pretty good but can’t remember the name lol.
Dungeon of Doom isn’t bad either.
33rd team is good imo and so is anything from the Athletic usually.
Ugh, that’s my least favorite show… He’s got zero in-depth analysis, he’s not a Detroit guy, he sounds like a dumb fan who speaks in a “matter of fact” nature… I like Detroit Lions Podcast with Risdon much better, but they only post once or twice a week. The athletic football show is a good podcast for national news and analysis
It’s actually rather humorous. Or would be if it didn’t happen to me.
So I rolled everybody in the league. Don’t know the margin of victory but it was substantial. Only two losses were to @Thats2. First one. I’m winning narrowly. The only point on the board are in the UTSA-Texas blowout. UTSA’s backup (who was replacing Luke McCown’s kid if you want to feel old) throws a meaningless pick six with :36 second left. I lose.
Then in the championship final of the league. He is winning bigly. I go on a big comeback. Last points on the board is via Amari Daniels in my flex slot. I need like one more point. This happens.
It was like the movies with the final shot going up. Life went into slow mo. My thoughts turned into a smack talk driven version of Beautiful Mind. And then the biggest sad trombone of my fantasy playing life.
And I feel bad for the kid of course. He got death threats and only one of them was mine.
It’s 2075. CuriousHusker is on his death bed. Everyone is saying their goodbyes. The grandkids go last. They lean in and kiss me on my forehead. Content and ready to move on the LIons’ fan afterlife of eternal, championship free purgatory I take my last breath. But prior to doing so I whisper “Amari Daniels” like I’m Arkosh Kovash speaking about Keyser Söze. I leave the surviving clan scrambling to find out “who is Amari Daniels?” and then upon discovery spending the rest of their days wondering “what was gramps talking about?”
Btw, we really should do a college fantasy league on this board. I tried to get people excited it two years ago but I lacked the gravitas to get the board excited about such a possibility.
And there are issues in general. Fantrax is clunky and you really need at least sixteen managers in a perfect world. Otherwise you don’t achieve the sort of roster wire scarcity necessary for a healthy league.
But as I’ve stated before it would fit in well with the ebbs and flows of the normal draft talk timeline around here as a preparatory stage of sorts. Also, might motivate a few additional Denizens to develop draftnik syndrome, which as you know is the cause of and solution to all of life’s problems.
