What are some of your favorite podcasts? I drove a ton and am always up for new ones. I like:

I wish I had more time to listen to podcasts. I enjoy them over radio
I’ve got a big backlog with interesting titles I will listen to someday
The Economist and WSJ each have a few different podcasts that I think are high quality — probably listen most to those
The NY Times has “The Daily” which has reasonable coverage of current events
Ongoing History of New Music is good
Family 360 had a couple episodes I loved called True Play —Pt1 & Pt2 (I think they’d be BigNatty approved) — worth a listen — that podcast is mostly in backlog so I cannot attest to consistent quality
Probably my favourite podcast is “Words & Numbers” — discuss mostly current events from the perspective of the Austrian School of Economics which has long been my preferred basis for viewing the world. May sound boring but the perspectives are often “right on” in my view. They’re perspectives often add clarity to wtf stuff.
Stuff you Should Know sounds interesting— I’ll definitely download that one right now
Give it a try at some point
Ok, I downloaded about 20+ episodes, just from 2020
I like that kind of stuff!
Thanks JC, I’ll have a look at some of those. My own favorite is Rich Roll, I’ve pimped him here before. I spend more time with audiobooks than podcasts, but the podcast is a great format. I’ve cancelled my Audible membership since I still have like 200 hours in books still to get to, lol.
Here’s a recent Rich Roll show on neuroscience. Guest gives his backstory and then the more interesting stuff is presented, around 26 mins.
Gotta love Joe Rogan’s podcast… I listen to a lot of Dave Ramsey too. I’ll sprinkle in some Adam Corolla as well.
The catalog is deeeeep
I’m amazed when people create high quality content at a high frequency
My feeling is that podcast is doing exactly that
They do a great job. Josh’s “the end of the world”
10 parter on existential risk is also fantastic
I don’t podcast, but dammit, I have all kinds of dead time on surveillance cases…Now this. I might just start as some of these sound awesome
Podcasts are probably the best way to gain knowledge about the world right now
Obviously reading is always #1 but with good podcasts you can gain a lot
I love, love, love Lexicon Valley with John McWhorter (who is my favorite dude in general right now). He really makes linguistics accessible and interesting.
Everything else I listen to is work-related; lots of digital marketing, SEO, and general business stuff. If you’re into that kind of stuff, I recommend eCommerce Fuel, Perpetual Traffic, Marketing Speak, and Experts on the Wire.
Thanks for that, listening now… I agree with the premise and have discussed it online with liberal friends and was surprised how many are/have come around to the dangers of cancel culture. I do think there is a similar reckoning probably on its way for those to the right of center in the coming years, but I’m not going to make this comment overtly political.
Ha, I do some work in that field, but then turned mostly to writing. I’m going to try my hand at building authority websites and see how it goes. I may have to PM you to pick your brain at some point, if you don’t mind. I’ll check out those podcasts sometime soon. I swear, there is so much sheer info out there it’s like drinking from a firehose.
My new running/hiking partner is this course. So much baffling BS from the extremes on both the left and right. I’m in need of a refresher on how we got here, and how we can avoid the end of civilization.
I like both of those guys a lot and I have for quite a while.
I find both of them inherently intellectually honest, and that is in short supply now days.
Do any of you listen to No Agenda? It’s a twice weekly podcast that breaks down the news.
