Will one of you fellas be willing to stand in line so I can get my season tickets? Actually, I wish them well.
So I can enjoy most women’s sports. But what I can not do is act like the male verse female versions of the sports are similar or that the female game is the same. It is played different due to the nature of the athletes. Also please do not tell me that just because you are female and play professional basket ball you should paid just like the male NBA players. The NBA players are not paid a ton because they are athletes that play basketball, they are paid a ton because people are willing to pay a ton to watch them.
With that said. I do think Detroit should have a WNBA team. I would go down and watch if it was priced right.
I do give women a lot of credit in sports. Some 20 years ago I played pick up games against some girls who played at the local collegiate level and they were actually pretty good. Fundamentally sound and there was one girl who was just a freshman in high school who was outstanding. She was close to 6 foot tall, very attractive (not in a creepy way just an observation) but the downside was she didn’t really like to play basketball. Her mother drove her to play to the point where I heard she hated playing. She would drive right into me and spin and get off a pretty decent shot most times, and I’m 6’1”. I did pack that little freshman’s shot one day though and it made me feel pretty good about myself. As pathetic as that sounds.
Goff is making himself quite at home here.

Love to see that!
Its just a completely different sport. And i cant get into it. Its like highschool vs NFL. Its just not even close to the same.
The fact a team just lost the record for “the most games in a row with a made 3 pointer”
Like they track that. If a team in the NBA DOESNT make a 3 its breaking world news. Thats just another day ending in Y in the WNBA
That’s sort of it for me too.
The only female sports that i will regularly tune in and watch are track and swimming. The gender gap in track is only 9-10%. The gender gap in swimming is only about 7%. I can experience it most mornings when a woman who has a background in swimming does three laps to my two!
The point is - in those caseas its not a “different” sport.
Yeah - I have to go back 30 years, where I played in a pretty damn competitive “Over 30” men’s league. Alot of ex-college jocks. We had 10 teams of 8 guys each, and 10 managers who drafted their teams. There were two women who routinely played. The best one was a high third-rounder (i.e. only 16 guys went ahead of her). 5’3" quick as hell PG, assist-maven and pain in the ass when she guarded you. A good looking chick who knew her stuff. The other taller one wasn’t bad either.
One time I thought, you know what, I’m going to give women’s sports a chance. I’m going to watch the World Cup finals. Surely this will be a good measure of women’s sports at the highest levels.
Fast forward 15 minutes, the US already up 3-0 and then this happened:
Never watched another women’s sport after this. To me, it’s like watching high school sports: fun if you have a rooting interest and the team is good, otherwise the lack of talent just makes it excruciating to watch.
I really enjoyed this female Olympians this year. A lot of great ones. Sydney Mclaughlin, Sha’Carri Richardson. Gabby Thomas, Femke Bol (our Bol’s cousin). Even Abby Steiner, who didn’t make the Olympics, was fun to watch.
Yeah I love Olympic track and swimming. No judges, bad calls, etc. I taped almost every event this year. Those women were freaking flying. But the men have to learn how to handle a baton!
Women’s tennis is quite possibly more entertaining than men’s, and not just for perves hoping to get a peak at some cheek.
Women’s tennis is outstanding. The slightly slower ball velocity allows for some incredible plays.
Also yes I do enjoy women’s volleyball.
