Let’s not overthink this. We came out an played like ass in every aspect (Cept for Bates, Bates looked good).
1st game of the year, on the road, after we sat basically everyone in preseason. The shit performance doesn’t mean everything, but it doesn’t mean nothing either. In Dan I trust.
Glasgow was terrible. Never looked open at all was jamo but even the announcer said that they’re not running those routes from last year that were killing people those deep ins and yes obviously it’s tough to do those when you don’t have the time for them to develop but I didn’t see the crossers or the rub place or any trick plays even the bubble screen to say brown which barely ever worked last year they didn’t even do it so there’s a whole bunch of things wrong with the situation and it’s going to be really hard to pin one particular thing down except the fact that the interior line had a tragic catastrophic terrible game
Not sure I agree although line play was a big factor. We did not push the ball down field. Just running Jamo deep forces GB to back up. Green bay kept almost their entire defense inside the 5 to 8 yard range. Taking deep shots (even if they don’t work) forces them to back up. Our offense never had a prayer against that defense because we let them dictate the game. A good coordinator would have made some adjustment to force them out of their defense. We never did. They played the same defense for 60 minutes and we just kept forcing or offense into it.
The silver lining is that we dominated Time of Possession. That was largely negated by going 1-4 in the red zone with an INT to boot. I do think the OLine will gel. Its bound too. Consider we basically have two rookie OGs and we lost our OC after the draft with no real way to replace him. Losing Rags really hurts because he made the calls, made everybody’s job easier, plus he was great on the second level which popped a lot of chunk plays. He can’t be replaced, but the longer these guys work with each other and adjust, the better they’ll get. Then some of those chunk plays will come.
Oh I’ve seen your posts. I know you are emotionally invested in Goff. It’s going to be a rough season for the Goff slappies. Better get your list of excuses ready.
With all due respect there is no silver lining. The lions got whipped. The interior oline isnt going to magically get better. The pass rush isn’t going to magically appear. Jared Goff isn’t going to magically get average athletic ability.
The o line was not good…. But Goff needs an elite oline to succeed. Goff has major limitations that the rams and really anyone with a novice understanding of QB play would realize. Goff is one of the most unathletic QBs in NFL history and is by far the least mobile of any QB currently in the NFL.
There will be no defending him very shortly but you can feel free to respond to this in a month.
