So the transfer portal and coach steeling window is horrible. And the CFP starts way too late.

So this is what i would do. But the future the season for NFL and CFB is gonna change soon.

Lets say, NFL goes to 2 preseason, 2 bye week, 18 games.

CFB goes to 14 games 2 bye weeks, no conference champ game. And the CFP is 4 rounds

So the calendar would be

Mid July: NFL training camp/ CFB Fall Practice

4 Weeks before Labor day: NFL HOF game 2 preseason weeks fallow.

Labor day weekend: NFL cut down week/ CFB week 1 (everyone plays no week 0)

Week after labor day: NFL week 1.

Mid December: NFL week 16/ CFB playoffs round 1. (CFB Coaches may be interviewed but must remain with current team)

Mid January: NFL week 20/ CFB champ game

1 week after National champ game: College players must declare for NFL Draft, Coaches may be signed to new Team.

2 weeks after Nat champ game/ transfer portal opens

4 weeks after Nat champ game: ProBowl, Senior Bowl, Transfer portal Closes.

Presidents day weekend: Super Bowl/ National high school signing day.

Early/Mid March: Combine, Players in the Portal must sign to a new school or revert back to their original school. NFL Free Agency

Late March Early April: CFB Spring Camp

Late April early may: Draft

Keeps the NFL and CFB out of each others way, keeps it fair for everyone.

And yes that means the “off season” is only Mid May to Mid July

I like this.

The current Bowl Season / CFP is almost unwatchable because so many coaches have changed teams and players have entered the portal (or opted out) prior to several games.

Why would I spend thousands of dollars to go to a bowl game to watch a bunch of 2nd and 3rd stringers compete?

Yea the bowl games will disappear.

Maybe expand the CFP to 5 rounds (24-32 teams) make the whole playoff the “bowl games”

Done. The bowl games have become glorified spring games. And that was happening long before the CFP. But with the portal and CFP its just made it worse.

As a fairly casual CFB fan, I have a hard time even knowing when the playoffs games are. I really don’t like espn having all of them and think that it limits viewership.

I like the schedule you propose. It seems like colleges should be putting clauses in coach contracts that they can’t join another team until Feb 1st.

I am super pumped for the College Playoffs and yet I keep forgetting it is even still happening

Its absolutely stupid that theres such a MASSIVE gap between conference champ week (12/6) and the second round when the teams with a bye play (1/1) 25 days between games!
