Former Lions roundup: Jeff Okudah continues quietly strong season with Falcons

Nice little roundup, there. Glad to see he’s getting back on track.

I always liked the dude, but my big memory of him is getting eviscerated by his coach last year!

Yep, Okudah tried hard he was a good kid. Rooting for him.

Hope he balls out and gets himself a nice contract and then the Falcons continue to suck and lose against us

Wasn’t that in the 2021 Niners game right before he blew out his Achilles?

I really liked the kid and wish him the best. That was one move I didn’t quite understand as Okudah seemed like a Dan Campbell kind of guy and showed flashes early last year.

Must be some behind the scenes type stuff as to why he was let go as we didn’t save a lot of cash by trading him. Might also be a need for a change of scenery and he wasn’t expected to play much with E-man, Jacobs and Sutton.

I think Brad and Dan did Okudah and Swift a solid. They weren’t drafted by them, but wanted to move on and give them a chance to succeed elsewhere. They sent them to best places to do that.

Okudah got us a 5th which helped us get Branch.
We signed Sutton/Moseley. Had Jacobs coming back. No room for Okudah.

Plus we get “street credit” from the players…for how they are treated here.
That’s pricless for the future

That was my thought as well. Okudah was in a contract year with his option not likely to be picked up and they knew he wasn’t starting here.

The staff has done this to others players as well, showing they always take care of their own, even on their way out the door. Players remember things like that.

It is two years ago now. Where does the time go?

Happy for the kid. I hope he manages to stay healthy going forward and as a successful career.
