Went 47th overall; Lions got Tater Salad at No. 57 overall
Would have loved to have him, watching talent like that being passed up on drives me nuts. We take Rake in the 2nd last year but couldn’t try to make a move for a true top 5 talent here.
Agreed, was not hard to see this guys talent. No reason he should have lasted until the 2nd round. This is where scouts/GM’s over analyze players too much.
Well the focus and need was to bolster the Oline. The Lions probably thought (myself also) that they were in good shape on the backend. I do also agree that Will Johnson seemed like a high floor guy from the jump. And the ceiling is on him. You can not take them all.
It drives me crazy too. You watch college football and Will Johnson & Cooper Dejean are just stars out there.
Brian Branch. Not sure how these guys fall until the mid 2nd but at least we got Branch would have loved all 3
Well there was injury history concern with Johnson, so not shocked he fell but I didn’t think it would be to the 2nd.
There were also questions, if i remember right, around whether he could have or should have played etc which some teams downgrade players that sit out when they can play.
I honestly wanted the lions to draft him. His talent is definitely there. Now we got no dbs
Oh yea, there were comments from a few places that he was making a business decision with some of the injuries.
Wasn’t he also “too slow”? I mean I never saw it, but sure read it.
His missed games were really sus. And of course he’s already missing games in the NFL. He was talented though. No doubt about that.
The injury history in itself makes it a head scratcher. We love those types ![]()
He has found a formula that works for him. He will never be a player that brings everything he has for a full season…unless he is forced to do it in a contract year.
