Another year of inactive Iffy
Takes over for Will Harris next year as the versatile depth DB
Doubt it. He’s been reportedly playing very solid with the second-team defense. I see him as depth this year. He himself said it was nice to finally be 100% healthy and that he’s grown comfortable with the switch to safety now.
Could be wrong. But I like his chances. I’m rooting for him. Dude is an athlete.
I just see it as a #s game back there
Outside
Sutton, Moesely, Jacobs, Lucas
Inside
CGJ, Branch, Harris, (Lucas)
Deep
Kerby, (Tracey) Iffy
Box/Deep
Tracey , (CGJ)
I don’t see a way for him on the field this year. If it happens it’s a bad thing because that means injuries to our top dawgs that we are relying on to make this defense championship level
Iffy is better than most people think…
This we probably agree on, but doing the math I think he’s on the 53.
Everytime people were saying he would be cut i kept pointing to his athletic traits and his position change to reasons why he would at least get this year to prove he can make the change. He could still be cut but it is promising to hear he is getting comfortable and performing better.
Athlete, and a smart one. The man just has to stay healthy.
I disagree, I thought the 3rd was too high for him. He’s a wet paper towel like his bro obi.
Track stars not football players IMO hope I’m wrong
For kicks, I actually “did my math”.
Firstly, not counting any ST (like maybe Iffy and Cabinda) as ST. They are in their own position group.
53 - LS, K, P
50 - Right out of the gate, 10 to the O’line, 10 to the D’line, and 10 in the secondary.
20 - Goff, backup
18 - Four RBs + Cabinda
That leaves 13 guys for WR / TE and LB. I think that’s doable, especially having guys at RB who can play WR, and guys at DL that can play LB in a pinch. Admittedly, my lineup here might be a hair snug.
I don’t think I’m forgetting any position. So considering wanting depth at certain positions plus the special teams factor, I think Iffy makes it.
And I hope you’re wrong about him, too. For the record, in addition to his track in high school - he was a basketball player and oddly lacrosse; he was also an ironman football player (three positions both sides).
“track star” and “athlete” are two different things. Now if he was thrust into a role due to injuries that would suck. Would I expect him to be a Pro Bowler? Absolutely not, but I would absolutely expect him to be a pleasant surprise.
As they say, time will tell my friend.
I agree with all of it except 4RB
I think
10 DL
10 DB
8 OL
7 LB - includes Harris, Barnes, J.Ok
5 WR - Benson vs Green
3 RB
2 QB
1 FB
3 TE
3 ST
That’s 52. The last spot could be miscellaneous could be 3rd QB, 6th WR, 11th DB/DL, 9th OL, heck maybe even 2K.
I don’t see ya keeping 4 RB.
It’s Craig vs Mohammed for the 3rd RB spot, unless we resign J Jackson. Then it’s him and we use Craig & Mo as practice squad call ups
I like your list. This one might be the only one we disagree on. Not sure yet. With all due respect to Netflix, he’s a B-list Gibbs and Big M (since he’s just a rookie) is a B-list Montgomery. I just think they keep their two guys, and then their “next” two guys.
Agree. After his drafting, my thoughts immediately went to his brother who was an absolute bust for the Raiders. So far, same situation.
Ironically, we kept on the same mentality for drafting the next round and took Amon Ra St Brown…soooo actually it worked out tremendously for us !!!
Well Mosely and Walker are both coming off serious injury. Those guys often gulp… I know - so I won’t say it. Even though Mosely is an outside CB it shifts guys around where Iffy could be in that #3 Safety spot. I think he is going to end up a bubble guy, especially if Mosely and Walker are looking ready to go and there are no other guys ahead of him that we lose for a longer duration.
The difference there is that ARSB had significant college production. Both Melifonwu brothers were workout wonders drafted on “potential” and not much more.
Do we finally have Safeties?
Usually in the NFL one brother is significantly better than the other. The Gronks. The Hasselbecks. Champ and Boss Bailey. Quinnen and Quincy Williams. Clay and Casey Matthews. Cam and Cecil Newton. Derek and David Carr. Carson and Jordan Palmer. Vernon and Vontae Davis. Ryan Kalil was way better than Matt. Michael Bennett was better than Martellus. Zack and Nick Martin. In the Watt family there were two brothers significantly better than the other. Romeo has been the better Okwara bro. Sammy Watkins wasn’t great, but a lot better than his bro Jaylen.
Or they can both be good. The Kelces, Sharpes, Barbers and McCourtys, for instance. The Mannings I guess. Maybe Chris and Kyle Long too.
But it’s pretty rare for both brothers to be complete non-factors. The only ones I can really find are Terron and TJ Ward, but even TJ played for 8 seasons and won a Super Bowl. It might not be the most logical stance in the world, but that’s why I thought Iffy had a shot lol.
The Mannings & Watts are definitions of this what do you mean you guess lol
I hadn’t thought of the both brothers being bad angle…but I think that kind of proves the point that he was over drafted? I mean if your brother wasn’t good that gotta be part of the scouting report. Of course their are the outliers you mentioned.
This would actually be a very interesting case study
I left the Watts in the first paragraph cause there’s three and the third one’s not nearly as good. And I didn’t really know where to put the Trufants. Marcus was pretty good but so was Desmond in Atlanta for a few years. But then there was also a third one named Isaiah who like hung around practice squads for a couple of years.
But in general like I said it’s very rare that two brothers are complete NFL non-factors. Especially if they’re drafted.
