I said weak not bad. You let in that goal and play really solid you had a good game. You let in 3 of those and they seriously consider pulling you. The worst part of it is he completely lost track of the puck. That shouldn’t happen too often for a NHL caliber goalie. I think he played really well. But I think the Canadian goalie was better.
Here’s a good look at it. All the goalie can do when he’s screened is butterfly to take away the bottom of the net and get his glove and blocker up. Still doesn’t take away all the net, of course, as was the case with this goal.
It’s up to the defensemen to move guys out of the crease. Billy Smith used to help them by slashing forwards’ legs.
This all but guarantees this is coming back. They might cancel the Olympics.

I remember back when the Red Wings were dominating Holmstrom was a master at screening the goalie. Having that grit guy that is willing to sit his ass in front of a goalie and take those cross checks and slashes while his teammates were ripping shots on net was a huge part of the Wings success. Goalies hate being screened and some took some pretty interesting measures to make a guy pay for standing in front of them.

Holmstrom has to be one of the most interesting case studies in the history of sports. What does he do, stands in front of the net, gets F-Ed up and tips in shots from the point. Yet literally no one else can do it

But a majority of ticket prices are soaring up into Super Bowl LIX territory, ranging between $2,000 and $4,000.
That’s pretty wild for a 4 Country tournament. Imagine a family of 4 to watch that last night. Easy 10 G’s. Maybe 20.

We all are, but then we watched and it was much more than a “miscellaneous tournament”. USA’s 2nd best D-man got injured with a broken right shoulder of some sort in game one vs Finland. Came out vs Canada in game two and threw down more hits than anyone else, and then ended up in the hospital with an infection that could possibly be season ending
Oh I know how competitive hockey players are and even more so their parents. Played if for most of my life. Only really quit because me knee is pretty messed up. Saw a lot of fights on and off the rink. Hockey players will fight over anything.
