All of the Fox channels will be dropped from YouTubeTV starting 8/27/25 at 5pm if a new contract isnt agreed upon.
This includs
FOX, FS1, FS2 and BTN for your sports viewing.
You may have seen the adds where “big tech is ruining TV”. Basically the big 4 networks, (ABC, FOX, NBC, CBS) saying its the big streaming services trying to control the media.
When in FACT it the networks trying to double dip.
Networks get money from providers for showing their content AND get money from add revenue. fox just launched a new stand alone streaming service recently. And is likely doing this to try to get more people to sign up for that.
YouTubeTV has stated that what fox is demanding would cause their prices to increase, and thats not fair to its customers.
talk about a bad time for this dispute.
16 major NCAA football games are on those networks this weekend. As well as NFL games next week.
Im sure a deal will get done soon. YTTV reached a deal with CBS in February after a brief blackout period.
However those MSU fans. If you have YTTV you wont be able to watch the game Friday unless a deal gets done
Yeah, YoutubeTV sent an email about this yesterday. I won’t be happy at all if this doesn’t get worked out by this weekend’s college games. A lot of times this stuff gets resolved 11th hour, so I am keeping my fingers crossed this is another example of that.
Don’t count on it, I had Dish Network and the dropped the local Fox channels for the same reason and it took them almost 2 years to agree on a contract
BS, I had Dish all last year and Fox 23 out of Cape Girardeau (local Fox for NW TN) was blacked out for over a year. So much so I cancelled my local channel Dish package and subscribed to my Fiber providers local channel package just so I could watch the NFL on Fox
It wasn’t only 2 weeks down here
Fox knows they have these cable and streaming services by the balls because people want their local channels, so they don’t budge on negoitations
It is purposely timed to line up with high demand content. At this point its a yearly occurence.
Major networks like Fox have had their own apps streaming content for years. They are getting updated and re-rolled out as a “brand new service” to drum up interest. I have been dabbling with streaming TV service for a decade. I remember for many years I couldn’t watch football games on those streaming services, even when it was the streaming service of my main content provider like DirecTV. The big networks would black out those games and force you to log in to their app to see the game. It wasn’t a big deal if the game on the network app was the only game I wanted to see. But if I had multiple games I wanted to channel hop with, it was infuriating to have to go back and forth between apps.
Thats a local fox issue not a national Fox brand issue.
that was due to after the deal was made with dish and fox. The local channels have to chip into the cost. And some local stations refuse to pay. (Rightfully so because local tiny market vs multi billion company) but its in their contracts.
But again. Dish. They are going either be either completely bought out or bankrupt in the next 2 years
so I re-up my youtube tv just for football. Can’t get any of the NFL packages because yaknow, blackout rules. I mean I can watch on my phone because yes that’s exactly what I would want to watch it on.
