Free agent profile: Why Lions can pass on re-signing Charles Harris

Was there ever any doubt?

He became redundant.
Comish houston and Pascal will be fine.

Harris was a solid DE when they were running 3-4 defense. Now they are in a 4 man front he just never showed up

Harris in 3-4 snaps is an OLB. In 4-down looks he is a DE. What got him a contract here was his play as that Edge/OLB/DE spot in 2021. “All we want you to do is get to the QB.” ~ SFH

He finished 2022 on IR and with enough lack of production that he signed a lowered contract to return in 2023.

He is not the “Big End” or “Hybrid” player (Campbell’s terms) that Commish and Paschal are. He was respected by his teammates enough to be named Captain, but the production was so low that he was largely inactive from Week 14 on. He’s not really a “redundant” player. In fact, when folks say we need to draft an Edge player this year, it’s exactly the player that you hope a Charles Harris and Julian Okwara would become that we’re in the market for. You hate to say it about a team captain, but his real problem is that he’s ineffective.

Was a healthy stratch several times last year. Pretty clear he’s on his way out.

This is year 3 for them. It’s now, or never.

If that was case why did we sign Betts an also keep the rush LB Mitchell Agude They will move on from Harris because his play didn’t even warrant on game day roster in many games.
He is not even close to Comish or Pascal . Not sure where or why you think that. Houston i will agree with not other two I think your wrong. Just look at difference in size.
