At age 34, Ben Jones is not a spring chicken, but probably has plenty left in the tank for a few months. Released as a cap casualty this spring, Jones drew considerable interest, but ultimately failed to latch on in a position he felt comfortable.
With Frank Ragnow going in and out of the lineup, it’s put considerable pressure on Graham Glasgow to pay attention to his assignments as a starting Guard throughout the weeks practice and then perform as a Center on Sunday.
Jones has made it clear that he is after a ring, and the Lions can offer him that opportunity. Signing Jones would allow Glasgow to concentrate on his valuable RG duties, and provide a sideline mentor for guys like Sorsdal.
Ben Jones makes a lot of sense for this team in this situation, and I think the Lions make sense for Jones as well.
