Freep: Detroit Pistons exec Trajan Langdon delivers big offseason message

I have to think a deal with someone has been agreed upon for us to do this trade. If we get Powell it would essentially be Stew for Powell and moving up 4 spots. Not terrible at all if that’s the case.

Basically, the 3 2nds they sent to Memphis to move up for Okorie.

Stew and #21 for #17 and $16m cap space. Good deal.

Me and @Sarge will be rooting for Cleveland next year if that happens.

Duren just signed 4 years at $160/40 mill a year. After this off season of a marginal just the tip, Langdon might want to have his resume’ updated if this team doesnt at least make the conference champ round this upcoming season. Bold strategy.

35.5 year one. Not terrible from a flexibility standpoint. Just a little higher than I would have liked though.

Jake Fischer isn’t a reliable source. Maybe he’ll be right but I wouldn’t put much stock into it until somebody more reputable reports it.

Wait I haven’t seen nothing yet

That report was that he was expected to sign something around that, but that “report” itself was just speculation.

At this point if you can trade him I would. Dude is money 1st and I get why not but it will hurt the pistons down the road

Can’t find any links. Just a rumor.

Why in the world would they change their mind???

Or… he plays out as a UFA. We haven’t exactly been awesome at recruiting FAs.

Ahhh, my bad.. I still stand by my opinion that it would be mind numbing if it ends up being the deal after all that has happened this off season/up to this point

Walker Kessler got 4 years $130m so in no world is Duren getting less than that nevermind way less and I say that as a non Duren fan. $40m/yr is too rich obviously but 35-38m/yr seems to be about market value.

If it happens, especially looking at the rest of this off season, the rankings of Det GM’s in order:

Brad

Scott

Empty chair at Redwing central

Langdon

lol are you joking? This Pistons were even more of a joke than the Lions just. Couple years ago.

Trajan has brought good leadership, maintained a resilient locker room, and enabled the development of players.

He hasn’t mortgaged the future for anyone, which may or may not be excellent.

I can’t see a world where he isn’t number 2 on this list.

That doesn’t matter what another player got.

Duren met with multiple teams. He didnt get a SINGLE offer. So whatever the pistons were offering (likely ~$30m aav) that value just dropped. Because either take this offer, or hit the fa market next year and get less because again. 0 offers.

$30m aav would be understandable. I wouldn’t be happy but understandable.

$40m aav is absolutely ludicrous. He gets that from the Pistons, Langdon needs fired. Because whats Thompson gonna get then? $45?+

So youll have $140+m in your big 3. Only $50m from the Tax apron. How are they gonna add anyone to make a championship team with that? You cant. This team will be mid for the next 4 years with that
