Imo the word “retarded” has gotten a bad wrap. It’s automatically associated with downs syndrome, mentally handicapped, etc. But the true meaning of the word is actually much broader in conotation and meaning…it’s really a great word for describing things within the word’s literal context, for example: “the lions depending on marcus davenport to be the DE oppo hutch and stay healthy and be productive, was football retarded", or like “the tigers starting zach short everyday is baseball retarded, as it is further retarding their retarded offensive production”

It’s from the Latin verb retardare, passing through the French retarder, *“*to delay” or “to make slow.” We still use it in industrial contexts without offence: “fire retardants.”
Etymology makes my eyes rain.

Dorks, geeks, and nerds have never been clinical terms to classify the degree of mental ability of obsessive enthusiasts, but they persist nonethelss.
Of course, a “dork” is someone who is a socially awkward enthusiast who isn’t particularly gifted intellectually speaking.
A “geek” is someone who is an intellectually gifted enthusiast, but is unaware of the fact that they are socially awkward.
A “nerd” is someone who is an intellectually gifted enthusiast, and is aware of the fact that they are socially awkward. Often painfully so.
All I know is that if I see anyone getting bullied I will intervene to the extent that I can.

This is how life seems so long and short at the same time.
While we’re talking improvement for Ausar, I’d have him work on a better handle. It seems that half of his cuts to the hoop end up in turnovers, especially if he’s attacking from the middle rather than the baseline. It should be about an 80% conversion rate, not 50%, when you’re on a fast break and have a defender on their heels.

They’re going to sign Duren and Ausar, two non-shooters, non-playmakers, non-scorers, to a combined $60m/yr and that is probably conservative. Just accept that this will happen and you’ll be less upset when it happens. Langdon doesn’t strike me as a GM that will be bold, he strikes me as another one of those “culture guy” GMs so I expect a lot of “running it back” with this group with some trimming around the edges for years to come.
