Freep: Detroit Pistons exec Trajan Langdon delivers big offseason message

And if they do trade for Herro better be a extension

I’m be down for a Herro trade. He’s had a few rough playoffs but he’s never played alongside a player the caliber of Cade and I think he’d flourish here. I like Murphy a little more but I’d prefer giving up way less assets for Herro although his extension will be pricier than Murphy’s contract.

He’ll be WAAAAY cheaper in terms of assets given up to get him. The Giannis trade being the facilitator means we’ll get him at a steep discount I’d imagine.

If they are trading beef stew then that needs to be for an upgrade on Uncle T separate from any third party facilitators set up that gets us guards

Agreed.

The contract is worrisome though, he’s a rental if they can’t afford or are unwilling to give him the $40m that he might command if he has another season like last one.

That’s why Murphy will cost so much more. I think they are fairly similar caliber players although Murphy is probably better defensively but Murphy has 3 affordable years left on his contract whereas Herro only has one left so I’d be hesitant to even give up #21 in that trade. It’s risky.

I’m all for a trade of Duren to the Lakers for Reeves, lfg. Unless they can find a way to pay both Duren and Reeves on this team, then lfg x2.

Then you need a big

Paul Reed and Beef Stew would work just fine if the offense is more of threat with a guy like Reeves…him and Cade would open up the game for this team, that’s a top back court in the east right off the bat. Obviously keeping Duren and adding Reeves would be optimal imo…but he’d have to be willing to take around $30mill a year instead of $40 in order to afford Reeves as well.

And dont get me wrong, I’d rather keep Duren than not, but no way can this team pay him more than $30 mill a year while also being able to do what they need to legit contend for a championship.

I disagree. Paul reed is a bench player same as stew. JD will get better. Playoffs sucked but trading him might be a big mistake

Like I said, I’d rather keep him, but imo the team can still improve without him if they made the right moves and dont want to pay him $40+ mill a year :man_shrugging:

Here’s the five team mega-trade AI did for me. It probably has a million things wrong with it, but just for fun:

:triangular_ruler: The Comprehensive Fiver-Team Master Blueprint

By integrating Milwaukee, we successfully trade Jalen Duren, keep Isaiah Stewart, protect the No. 21 draft pick, and land both an All-Star guard and a championship big man.

  • Detroit Pistons Receive:
    • Donovan Clingan (From Portland) — Your defensive anchor and spacing 5.
    • Tyler Herro (From Miami) — Your secondary ball-handler and dynamic perimeter weapon.
    • Bobby Portis (From Milwaukee) — Your veteran, floor-spacing backup big man. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
  • Detroit Pistons Keep:
    • The No. 21 Overall Pick — Saved to execute your trade-up for Yaxel Lendeborg.
  • Miami Heat Receive:
    • Giannis Antetokounmpo (From Milwaukee) — Their ultimate superstar prize. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Portland Trail Blazers Receive:
    • Jalen Duren (From Detroit via Sign-and-Trade) — Their new, 22-year-old franchise center.
    • Duncan Robinson (From Detroit) — Necessary salary filler to balance the books. [1, 2]
  • Milwaukee Bucks Receive:
    • Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Nikola Jovic (From Miami) — The elite young core to start their rebuild.
    • Paul Reed (From Detroit) — A highly tradeable, high-energy backup big man on a cheap deal.
    • Tobias Harris (From Detroit via Sign-and-Trade) — Flipped immediately to a third team or kept for veteran salary structure.
    • Miami’s 2026 No. 13 Overall Pick & Two Future Unprotected Miami 1st-Round Picks. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

I really wanted Clingan in that draft instead of Holland.

Damn, that’s a wild trade! It would be quite the literal facelift for this team, def not just “improving around the margins”…I need to let that sink in for a bit, I think I like it though, and imo Yaxel would be a perfect fit for this team (him and Cade could be fire together, and not just becasue I’m a Mich splappy)

And do you think Beasley’s coming back?

It is nice to hear Langdon is very active today…I was down on him after he spoke yesterday, sounded like he was just looking for minimal/marginal moves, ad nauseom, like all the rest of our GM’s. But word around league is he’s all over the place with Pistons blowin team’s phones up…I love it, thank you Langdon. Hope all the other DET GM’s are paying attention.

I would love it, but i need the youngster to shoot holes in it - he can usually find something wrong. I;ve kind of come to the conclusion that we have to trade Duren. Do I think it will happen - no. But either a healthy Kessler or Clingan would both fit this team much better than Duren would.

Active? Little Karl is there news. Or did I miss something

I think if he does come back, we are front-runners, he really wants to be here.

I missed that karl was little.

Yep, word around the league is he’s inquiring about all kinds of players today - Hero, Reeves, Murphy, Lavine…a far cry from the vibe he had at the podium yesterday
