Sure it’s fast for his size, but it’s not fast for a TE, and that is what you are talking about.
Nevermind the difficulty in teaching him yet another position and can he catch? This isn’t PlayStation, you can’t just switch a position and expect it to work out.

but I will point that there were VERY FEW players drafted after Bromart that have made any significant impact to this day.

I have pointed out numerous times that THE best player taken after Bromart in that draft was Puka… and he was like the 4th pick the Rams made in the 5th round.
They didn’t even value him much before the draft.

Look back at the picks the Lions gave up for Bromart, and the Cardinals also did NOTHING with them. They also didn’t “miss” on many play players.
It was a pretty crappy draft for late round guys.
After the grand slam pick that was Alim, followed by the 8 run dinger that was Amon, and then the 6 run bomb that was Kerby… I would’ve trusted myself too.
Live and learn. There’s never been a GM who bat .1000. Hell, no one’s ever batted .500.
This team is still the most talented version of the Lions I’ve ever seen.

I hope Teslaa proves to be a solid contributor to a winning team. Otherwise, Brad is going to have a fairly epic list of draft fails over the last few years.
Turning 6 or so mid-round picks into one backup receiver is not getting it done.
I just want them to treat Manu at this point as just any dude trying to make the squad. No more keeping him around with fingers crossed. He has to be able to contribute in some way. The roster is so small on an NFL team that carrying dead weight is almost a sin.
I keep feeling manu ends up a pro bowler with the eagles. It seems destined

Teslaa had 6 TDs on 27 targets last year.
He averaged 15 ypc last year.
I was more concerned about why he didn’t get more opportunities.
I think Brad is playing 4D chess with us. He knew he hit too much on his first few drafts that it would become extremely expensive to keep paying all these guys. And if you let good guys walk out the door and choose not to pay them, that can hurt the morale and the “we pay our guys” mantra. Therefore the only solution is to take a 1-2 year pause on hitting home runs and strike out a few times. This gives breathing room to the cap and Brad doesn’t have to choose to not pay good players.
And that is my problem with the pick. There is only one ball to go around. Do you give him more targets than St Brown, Jamo, Laporta or Gibbs?
I hope he has a transformation and proves it during camp. That said, I am not holding my breath.
That said, he shows that physical traits do not translate on their own. It has been proven over and over and yet it is a consistent questionable decision that many teams have made. I don’t mind a flyer in the very late rounds because that is where such flyers should be made. Flyers in the 3rd… too much opportunity costs.
He wins OT4 and becomes good enough to fill Broom’s role in year 4 that’s probably closer to mean return on his degree of draft capital than people would imagine. I doubt he gets us even that though.

The Lions have been pretty fortunate with a lack of injuries at WR.
If Jamo or ARSB missed any significant time with an injury, it would really hurt the offense without a decent #3 WR able to pick up some of the slack.
Plus… his ability in the red zone is a huge plus when it comes to scoring 7 in the redzone instead of FGs.
To add to this, WR3 is not an insignificant role in this offense. Those routes come into play for 3rd down conversions as well – we got a lot of those from Reynolds and Patrick in previous years.

I don’t know why people get so wound up about Manu.
Well, that’s not true. I know why, I just hate that people think that if they were in charge, every fourth-round pick would be a Pro Bowler.
Even if he totally crashes and burns, that’s not terribly unusual for a late fourth. If he makes the roster, that’s a pretty decent win. I’m not giving up the idea that he could be a #3 tackle. His development trajectory was on-pace, he just started at such a low level. This year’s camp was always going to be big for him.
This was always a gamble, and it was a good time and position to take a gamble. If he doesn’t pan out, it’s not a huge deal, especially for the shot at the upside.
I might be in the minority here, but instead of worrying about RB, why not get another decent defensive player?
Exactly, we drafted Teslaa and let Leaf walk who was on a 2 year 10’mil deal prior I think.
Borom on a 1 year 5 mil deal
We gotta keep developing depth role players with mid round picks because we keep handing out huge contracts to our guys…

There is a lot of context that is needed. Brad’s philosophy that draft was to go get their guys they identified. It was a really poor draft overall. He was feeling himself with the manu pick. The thing I was concerned about and it has been put to rest was how he would rebound. Last year was a solid draft and this was a solid homerun draft as well. For those thinking he has some mid round disasters…..sure….but who has more hits then Brad overall. The Detroit Lions have a top 6 talent roster because of Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell. There was concern that Brad wouldn’t learn from his mistakes and his head was too big….that was proven incorrect with the last 6-9 months. We good……
