Edit: Turns out I can’t trust the competing right tackle; Hutch got 6 hits.
“How do I say this respectfully: He did not do a damn thing all ■■■■■■■ game. He strikes me as the type of guy that would try to celebrate that one play, but for most of the day I was on an island with him and he didn’t do anything. Obviously I’m pissed about the last play, but at the same time, there’s not much you can do. They know what you’re going to do and he still tries to give me his best move and I run him by the quarterback and he just manages to run back upfield and get the sack.”
He is 100% right. Hutch really hasn’t been a game wrecker this season and he did very little yesterday. But when the game was on the line he closed it out. $$$
Hmm I thought Hutch actually had some stats yesterday? And Hutch was definitely chipped all game long. Well there’s a lot of garbage sacks in games but the one Hutch did get ended the game.
He is 100% right. Hutch had a piss poor game until the very last play. I am sick and tired of hearing about pressures. It means nothing if the QB just casually slides to the other side and completes a downfield pass. There was a couple plays I saw where Hutch was literally stoned by a TE, and the tackle went to find other work.
I think Hutch is a great player. I am very glad he is a Lion. Love his heart and attitude as well as his skillset. However, he is NOT elite. He needs a Robin. I am sick of the Lions trying to tell us he doesn’t, when he clearly does. If there are any Lions media people reading this thread, please do me a favor. The next time Brad Holmes or Dan Campbell says “We’re good”, I want someone to ask “Why not try to be great?”
Hutch literally set the Lions franchise record with 6 QB hits yesterday. A large majority of this board will piss and moan about just about anything, win or lose, just to hear their own voices.
Hutch was not great. I watched him specifically. Soooo many times just run outside and WAY past Winston. It was unimpressive for what he is paid. That latter part is the most essential part. I love Hutch but he has to deliver what he is paid.
Great point! I was mainly talking about this game, but you bring the larger season to perspective. Hutch is 2nd in salary at 45M while 8th is Trey Hendrickson at 29M.
of course that is not all about sacks. Hutch is about number 10 or so in pressure rate, but he is at the top of forced fumbles (4 maybe)
I think he is great, I just don’t think he is currently playing like a game-wrecker. A top 2 salary should produce that, no?
Stats don’t matter, just hutch and goff have to produce consistently against good teams, honey moon period is over . I don’t care about st Browns celebration when we’re trailing 10 points ,also I don’t like this individual celebrations, if you are hugging your teammates and celebrate that will boost evnergy.Hutch also can’t stop his celebration after a sack , please save that time , nobody care unless you make consistent impacts to win a meaningful game
