Good draft for C and OT

I’m really surprised how well the IOWA OL has played this year, but this is worth following.’

Mike Renner, who’s probably my favorite draft analyst, actually has another Iowa iOL as his top-rated center. Or maybe #2 behind Lew. A younger guy, lemme see if I can find his name…

Edit: Kade Pieper. Calls him the most athletic iOL he’s ever watched. Of course he might not come out this year.

Did anybody else notice that #2 Miami fell to Louisville tonight?

I’m unconvinced it’s either a special C or special OT class. I know that Renner thinks it’s a great Ot class. I guess I can get there at OT but I still kind of hate that there isn’t that my gawd type top 5 pick. Does feel like an unusual amount of helpful tackles though. Center? It’s fine I guess. A lot of the dudes are single digit percentiles (or damn near it) in terms or weight. I kind of doubt we’re going there. I tend to naturally underrate the importance of size. Brad doesn’t seem to make that mistake.

To me OT is above average and C is probably average.

Give us the DE this year. This is the year. We can get a bruiser which I what I think we prefer.

I think we have to have an OT this year. I just wonder how we address it. Finding a LT where we pick that can start day one is unlikely. If we move Sewell to LT we may find a RT where we pick that is ready to play. Decker seems to be about done and we have nobody behind him.

Is it a good draft to win the super bowl this year?

I just can’t care about anything else right now.

What are the odds Lindebaum doesn’t get franchised tag or resign with Ravens?

Would be pretty epic to scoop him up day 1 in free agency March 2026

Linderbaum was a first round pick so they had a 5th year option that they declined. I assume he stays but wherever he ends up he’s going to get paid. Last season the first center to get drafted was Jared Wilson at 95, late 3rd round. I liked him and was surprised he went that low. His PFF grade isn’t great so far but he hasn’t given up a sack. He really was the only decent center from that draft and I don’t think another one was taken until the 5th round. This draft I see several that should go in the first 5 rounds, and that does make it a “good” draft for centers, above average. OT’s, I expect Kadyn Proctor to go top 5, the light finally switched on, and Mauigoa as well. The rest of the OT’s? A solid group, again…”good”. With our first 3 picks I think we can add decent depth and potential starters for the OL and DL esp in rounds 1 and 2.

Decker has been a warrior playing through injuries when required, but it does appear his time is almost up. We saw what happened with the center last year.

Lions have some star players but their key is the oline so it has to be addressed in the draft.

He’s also playing LG for them while Bradbury plays C, which surprises me, since I saw Wilson as a C only guy. He was very young though, maybe he’s added some weight.

Both. I think we can go OT in round 1 and still get a good DE around 60.

This is who I want at OT. Doubt he’ll be there though. I expect him to get some serious helium soon here.

I don’t think we can force anything. I’d like to have OT - hell OT with OG versatility has been my preference the past 2 drafts - but most of the guys at the top have disappointed pretty severely. Fano and Lomu got eaten up by the TT ends, Fano, Dunker and Mauigoa look like they might be guards more than tackles, Proctor is a day 2 guy, World hasn’t taken the leap people expected, on and on.

Goosby has probably been the best and has the most prototypical size, but he’s had his ups and downs too. I thought Barber, Miller, Chaplin, and Shelton could play their way into the top half of the 1st too, but they’ve been disappointments.

Iheanachor has been good imo, but he’s RT only. Jude Bowry just started playing this past week (he was injured to start the year), but he had some improvements to make to move up the board and might not come out. I like Fa’amoe quite a bit, but he’s pretty unconventional, and has only been playing OL for a few years. Heard is taking off and has the frame, but he’s the one guy who could skyrocket out of our range.

It’s just a class with a lot of holes.

I have not watched enough tape on all these guys but OT Spencer Fano from Utah looks like a top half of the 1st rounder to me. Keep in mind after the senior bowl there will be some reshuffling and a lot of OT and OG prospects will be looked at as centers as well. A lot of short armed OTs will be moved inside.

That’s Fano’s main problem to me, he’s likely to be a guard. Bailey and Height really ate his lunch in that TT game. Now if we’re looking interior (and still intend to move Ratledge to C) I’d love to add Fano.
