NFL doesn’t care about what happened on MNF, or at least not enough to really make any changes…it’s all part of the game…mistakes happen…

Yet they made one up for the Packers against the Vikings to take a TD off the board for the Vikes. We knew this would be how this rule would be used.

Extreme arrogance. I can buy that it’s hard to make a call in a split second especially at the speed of this game and when that left tackle is selling the call…but this just sounds like “buy our merchandise, buy our product and pound sand”

Because the officials and league office doesn’t want it. When Patricia didn’t challenge the obvious PI last week, there was a reason he didn’t. He had been conditioned by a push to not have this work or be worth it to keep. Everything in the league is going to be “close.” But did he get there prior to the ball ariving to prevent the reciever from catching it or not. Make the freaking call. It’s not like Coaches have 14 red flag opportunties, so it’s limited by design. If you screwed up, own up if the coach chooses to use one of those couple opportunities. The way it’s going now is not how it should go. It’s slimy, which does nothing for fairness or getting the call right!

You would think someone running a billion dollar organization, and knocking down 10s of millions himself, would care about the product on the field. Evidently he hasnt been watching.

Big Willie was very clear that the league makes more money off of the Steelers, Packers, Cowboys and a few others than anyone else. So the man running a billion dollar company knows where his bread is buttered.

I would question their business model, but I don’t know the breakdown of merchandising/ratings that drives this narrative. To me, why not spread out the love and build up those underperforming markets. It’s not like GB is from a major themselves, it’s the winning history that drives it and if you bring that magic elsewhere it builds the brand for all, and just a few.
That’s fine, but from a business standpoint you wouldn’t do it at the expense of the Packers, Cowboys, Steelers, etc. I remember years ago MLB was talking about why Yankees games were so much higher rated than most other games. People not only tuned in to root for the team (Yankees fans), but teams tuned in to root against them. The Cowboys definitely experience this effect.
As far as a Cleveland vs Detroit Super Bowl (mentioned earlier), I wonder what the ratings would be like. It might be pretty high. The Cubs vs Indians World Series Game 7 was one of the highest rated games in the last 25 years.

@wesleysh21, this may be the only approach that could work, in terms of swaying Goodell. As someone mentioned a couple of days ago, Goodell works for the owners, and the owners are happy. He’s like a property management company, and owners are the landlords. The less trouble there is, and the higher the profit margins, the better things are. Nobody cares about anything else.
Anyone that could watch the MNF game and come away not calling it a systematic win for the officials is a liar. We’re dealing with people who have a different code of ethics here. these people have no problem with lying.
The fans don’t matter. This impacts player contracts. It can get coaches, GMs, & players bonuses, less money, or fired. None of that matters. The only thing that matters is the bottom line of the NFL and how much money owners make. Keep the owners happy, and keep your job. Goodell is the enemy of the people.
