Juice Scruggs was the Lions highest-rated player on offense yesterday per PFF.
David Montgomery averaged 3 yards per carry on 20 attempts. The 3 yard average is the worst in the NFL across Week 1.
Brad Holmes didn’t want to trade DMo, but given the player requested a trade … I would say this is looking like a win already for Detroit. Decent Center play doesn’t grow on trees. The fact that they lost their starter and still had Scruggs to step in and play well above average football … is a luxury and great work by the GM.
Are people seriously reaching this bad to throw DMont under the bus? Back in the other thread someone is saying Saylors would be almost as good.
The Texans have a bad OL. Still managing 60 yards isn’t terrible, but he got a TD with a power run up the middle, got another TD on a break-away run, and got another TD on a wide open catch.

Just because someone says it was a good trade doesn’t mean they are throwing Dmont under the bus. I think it’s been pretty clear that everyone (including the Lions I would imagine) would have loved Dmont to stay but he wanted to leave.
Dmont got what he wanted, he wasn’t getting 20 carries from us, and we got a guy who can fill in at center.
Why do some people look at this as a dig against DMont, when most are just grateful we have a GOOD backup center, one that is better than last years starting center.

I was watching a replay of one of Gibbs run off the right side. I thought Scruggs was going to get a penalty for “Unnecessary blocking” penalty (Blind Side). He had the LB on roller skates 10+ yards down the field. You know that was a fun play to watch in the O-line room.
