Gruden will get paid in 2053 when the NFL exhausts every conceivable delay tactic and finally settles without disclosure of a mountain of emails. Who really wants to know that Roger Goodell wears red lace panties? I mean, other than me?
What’s awesome is Gruden is already wealthy and I’m sure he’s absolutely enjoying the shit out of being a thorn in the NFLs ass. You know Al Davis is somewhere smiling.
Damn straight. You can’t be pro player and then go and try and hurt players on the other team who might end up playing for you one day. That’s disrespectful of everyone who has every played in the league, including himself.
I don’t. That’s not something I have seen people hide too well, and after his decades of coaching and being around thousands of athletes, I never heard of it coming up. He’s being judged by making a comment about someone he probably doesn’t like. People tend to get very personal when they don’t like someone. They also tend to lose a filter.
I think people say stupid things sometimes. Things they regret whether they be racial or regretful things to a loved one. At some point the punishment should stop, or the whole thing becomes vengeful.
As far as Goodell goes, it’s interesting the levels he’s going to in order to stay out of court. He lives in a glass house, and Gruden seems intent on showing that. As I said when Gruden first went to court, I hope he burns the NFL empire to the ground.
I’ll be very interested to see a) What kind of settlement gets offered now that discovery is possible and b) whether gruden is wild enough to really air the leagues dirty laundry.
I reread the nyt article about his emails and the comments he had made were primarily juvenile and crude. I don’t know that he was hateful toward anybody besides Goodell.
He also had the one comment about van Jones lips, which was stupid but arguably not a racist attack but an insult that had racial weight to it whether intentionally or not.
It sounds like gruden was basically running his best friends off-color group chat (you know you have one) though his email account and got doxxed
I cant seem to recall any real big situations where doxxers got any type of consequences. Very disheartening (given how much PII my industry has access to and how often we are reminded that you will get pounded by The Law if you dont handle it right/safeguard your systems/ abide by retention laws or reveal it).
Challenge for Gruden is the NFL has something he wants…coaching opportunities.
So at what point does the NFL settle and un-blacklist him, is the point of the suit to win or to open the doors to more coaching opportunities…the latter is my belief.
Perhaps, yet, Gruden has made it further in the legal system than he did and discovery is now on the table. So, perhaps but not sure it’s that cut and dried.
Gruden stated in the last week or so he wants to coach again
