It’s a way of life. I started wearing them regularly when I was a bartender and it kind of put me in a calm place. I own over 30 still and just picked this one up from Walmart, $13. Our Walmarts in IOWA aren’t like most of yours, we are rural even in our largest cities and I don’t know anyone here who has a problem going to one unless it’s political.
The hat I purchased over 20 years ago in Tarpon Springs, Florida. They are essential together. Throw in some decent bourbon and a good cigar and the problems in life seem less problematic.
I own 1 Hawaiian shirt that I’ve worn twice. I bought it on Amazon for a “themed” BBQ. My wife had the matching pattern jumpsuit. We wore our matching outfits again one day at Universal Studios this year (company thing that included 3 day park pass, early entry, express passes, Hard Rock hotel, all food drinks anywhere at the hotels/park/City Walk for our entire stay).
I think in the mind it’s meant to indicate a possessive. So, Walmart’s (store).
In my hometown where they made a lot of cars, many people worked at Ford’s or Chrysler’s.
Just now realizing the possessive thing by the way. It was often a source of bemusement (and we did chuckle at people who said this) but now makes sense as to why.
… in my my mind they were just saying Fords or Chryslers.
When you’re in a place where the business and the family are both big players it’s not unusual to call it Ford’s or Meijer’s. Walmart’s i can’t help you with.
