Holiday gift guide (ugh!)

Man I need some help. Amazon deadlines are just around the corner, and I have no freaking idea what to get my wife and kids. Christmas was so much more fun when we were young and poor, and any “object” would cause squeals of joy - Teddy Ruxpin, a cabbage patch doll, the latest curling iron, a stop at Victoria’s secret.

The grandkids are getting “experience gifts” - e.g. snow tubing rather than 10,000 Lego’s.

Has anyone done any shopping or have any gift ideas for their spouse? What is the lates AI-powered stuff? Have the home assistants avanced to the point where a new one is worth it. Who loves their pillow, I’ve been searching for a hotel type pilllow all year and have returned three already? Anythng? Anybody got anything here?

You can never go wrong with jewelry. Doesn’t have to be expensive.

Gift Certificates for a massage, maybe a monthly subscription. My mom always liked those.

MyPillow gets rave reviews.

Kids might like “babysitting” vouchers for the grandkids, if they’re close enough that it’s feasible.

I always liked getting a nice card and a check from my parents.

LOL. I love that you posted this a week before the holiday. But mostly because I’m in the same boat …

Some ideas …

  • Vermont Teddy Bear via Amazon (still can be delivered before Christmas, and they are made in the USA).
  • If wife is a tea drinker, Harney & Sons teas are awesome and their packaging is :pinched_fingers:. Available on Amazon.
  • Stanley tumblers are worth their weight in gold. Amazon it.
  • ■■■■ AI, get kids literally anything from KiwiCo on Amazon or Nat. Geo gifts like this one. Something they can use with their hands, learn from, and fun as hell
  • I got my wife Beats headphones ($130 on Amazon, so not cheap, but it’s on sale); this is a gif that’s also for me b/c she’ll do audiobooks in bed while I’m trying to watch sports and it drives me ■■■■■■■ crazy.

You can buy a bucket or freestanding heated towel rack for master or pool or hot tub for less than $100. Who doesn’t like a warm towel?

I bought my wife some books too.

Right on. Jewelry and cloths are always a hit.

I got my wife a Hutch jersey, and a Dingler jersey. Having a woman that loves detroit sports as much as I do is awesome for Christmas and birthdays.

What would Jesus do, where would Jesus shop, how much would Jesus spend, and does Jesus enjoy this seasonal torment? Huh? What’s in it for Him?

I write Holiday cards to about 30 or so adults and get fun, gag gifts for the kids in my life. It’s not quite Bah, Humbug, but it’s close…

I had my woman create an amazon wish list, and I just bought all of her stuff from there. That said, I included a note with each gift, detailing why this comes specifically form me, why I chose it, what emotional anchoring I hope she will have from it, as well as what she means to me and why. Gifts are just “stuff”, unless there is emotional anchoring to it. You can give someone a car, and if they’re not connected to the fact that it comes from you, it’s just a car…vs…this is a safe/fun/comfortable transport that was purchased for me by someone that wants me to experience my life as fun, love, and feel safe and comfortable in doing so.

Giver her ANCHORS!!! Make sure she knows you love her.

That’s why I’m so disappointed you won’t wear the toupée I sent you. It took me almost 6 months to knit that for you. You had a real opportunity to be the real life Kenny Powers and you let me down.
