You have perfectly valid points. When it comes to a franchise nfl quarterback nobody really knows until they step on an nfl field and start playing games. I will say this about jj though, he’s still only 20 years old. You can also see the growth and development from last season to this. Yes he doesn’t play sec defenses on a regular basis but that doesn’t seem to be helping young out very much either. McCarthy does have the advantage of playing in a pro style offense. I think he should come back for another year to continue to develop. If he does then he has the tools and intangibles to be a 1st round pick. I’d love to see him in a lions uniform. Especially if he can sit and learn behind Goff for a year or two.

All you need to do is go into the “League Settings”, find “Salary Cap”, and toggle it to “Off”.
Problem solved!
We might also want to change the league sliders so user trades are easy.

It’ll take multiple firsts to get either of them, so I don’t see that happening. Brad likes to add high picks rather than trade them away. The only way to get McCarthy without paying a hefty price would be if he came with an injury discount like Hooker.

Unless the Lions plans to finish with a record that allows them to draft before 20 or so, McCarthy will be off the board—assuming he doesn’t stay for his final season at UM (doubtful) or he absolutely collapses against PSU or OSU (unlikely). Two recent mocks had the Giants select McCarthy at 5 and the Vikings at 7.
