So I’ve always wondered this. Sometimes there’s videos of full games for certain players and that’s how I’ll watch most of my stuff for evaluating guys, but I have always wondered if there’s some way you guys and other get their hands on all-22, and if so how? Or if you don’t watch all-22, if what I do is the same thing you all do? Or if you do something different?
Mostly it’s game cut-ups for me (check out Caddy’s Cutups on Patreon) but sometimes I’m able to get ahold of an all-22. But in general finding college all-22 is like looking for the Zapruder film, you almost have to get it through the individual schools. Though it’s become a little easier now if the game was a main big-time ESPN broadcasts, one of the ways you can watch it is via live all-22 and some people are recording it.
I used to watch porn…. Like a lot but never pulled a Bob Quinn…. Sry
Mlive article Cut and Paste for the newbies:
ALLEN PARK – Bob Quinn locked himself in an office this spring and watched 14 games of Florida Gators film that would come to define his next draft foray
Quinn watching Teez film
Haha don’t forget he took Jarrad Davis in the 1st round of that draft. 2 horrible Gators in back to back picks. Speaking of which shouldn’t Davis be signing a new deal to join the Lions practice squad for the 73rd time!?
I watch highlights… NF, I love their highlights… Then I go and watch interviews of them, when they are not on the field, and look at their energy. See who they are as a human.
For college kids I just watch the game cutups. Its crazy how much you can get to know about prospects thru those. For NFL film I use a combo of game film and the All 22 that I pay for with some other stuff. But when I am trying to explain something and use screenshots I typically don’t bother going thru the all 22 when most of what I’m trying to say is available easily on youtube.
95% if they don’t show it in highlights it means they can’t do it. My argument for not needing All-22
Of course the All 22, or the EZ shots are beneficial. But it’s a lot easier to just cruise through a highlight film if you aren’t getting paid for your time
Highlights are good to get an initial idea of the upside.
For a closer look at a player…
I like to watch vids that show every offensive play vs. a defense…
and usually are less than 20 minutes to see an entire game of snaps.
.
Those are available for quite a few power 5 teams.
If those are not available…. I like to watch full “condensed “ games… and then fast forward thru the possessions I don’t want to focus on at the time.
I furiously search youtube with search terms like “all plays” etc. You can follow some people that get a hold of some good stuff although a lot of seems fleeting like it gets taken down. I rarely see an all-22 so some positions are harder for me I guess, but I’m no pro scout anyway so no biggie. I also have some games DVR’ed on youtube+ which I can fast forward through commercials and downtime. I also watch other people who I value breakdown a prospect. I don’t always agree but it gives me perspective at times.
I do the same. Something like “Michigan defense every snap vs Georgia” type search. Sometimes a player search, sometimes a team defense search.
DB & QB are the two hardest positions to evaluate without actual tape & just going off of highlights. Agree or disagree
For sure. You almost have to have the all-22 to at least get an idea of what’s happening, and even then it’s hard because you don’t know the assignments. It definitely gives you a better overall idea though.
Same, gotta see all snaps to get a real idea of the player. Watching only the highlights is fools gold. Some of the worst Lions players ever had wonderful college highlight reels, just ask Millen, he never bothered to watch anything else.
Agreed!
