How, If Any, Has Your Opinion Changed About Our Coordinators Over the Past Few Weeks?

The results have been better

This next stretch of games will say a lot

Haven’t changed on Petzing since like the week after the initial announcement – think he’s a good fit.

I’ve been all over the place on Shep. Really liked his first 7 games in ‘25, thought the late season collapse was more due to injuries, seemed like he righted the ship at the end (after it was too late).

This year, after the Carolina game, I thought he was a mistake and that we should look for a replacement. But I think I was wrong, it was just taking the new crew a while to figure out the new scheme, including him. His speech this week about Jack Campbell, yeah, he’s a leader of men all right, very excited to see what the second half of this season brings (assuming we get back to a reasonable level of health).

Fipp is great, as expected.

Petzing seems like a good fit. I’m sure he’ll have some off games at some point, but I suspect he’s good enough to keep this offense among the best in the league.

Shep still has a lot to prove, IMO. His best has been pretty good with great talent against middling competition. I don’t think that’s good enough. That being said, if he can continue the steak of “pretty good” with the injuries, that could change my mind.

Petzing has gotten better as the year has progressed. Still concerned about his ability to call plays in crunch time and his predictability at times, but his 2nd half adjustments have been really impressive.

Still not onboard with Shep. I feel like the recent improvement on defense has been really more about facing terrible offenses than anything else. Still too many lapses in the back 7.

IMO we took our blinders off and listened to what group think and all the supposed experts thought we should do with our defense. Up until that point we’ve always known who we were and accepted the downside of playing that way. The first four games we were playing poser defense. What I mean by that is we were playing a style of defense that was anathema to our ethos. We are the most genuine of teams in all of sports. That’s one thing that people love about us. We became disingenuous on one side of the ball and it burned us badly.

Statistically the Packers and Arizona are middle tier offenses. Pretty similar offenses to NYJ and NO.

Green Bay with Jacobs is probably more like top twelve-ish. Just a guess.

So I guess some of you don’t think DC is taking the defense unserious anymore… was always a stupid take.

Onboard with all of them to this point.
Shep was going to have growing pains, especially with what happened last year injury wise. I wanted to see what he would do this year and if he would be able to adjust.
So far he is trending positive, but, now comes another massive challenge with losing this many players on D again. How does he adjust?

Now that is a very high expectation women. I either am worried for you man OR well done my friend to be up to her requirements and expectations. You must hit home runs all the time!

There were still a ton of wide open receivers against the Vikings. Lucky for us Murry either missed them or the pass rush got home. I’m encouraged by the recent play of the defense but I’m not sold on them just yet.

I thought the same thing. If an average QB was playing for the Vikes that game, the result may have been different.

Love Petz. Love Fipp. Will give Shep more of a chance - through this year. If no improvement we need to get an experienced defensive guru.

Yeah I mean I think Petzing has been avg at best, with the guys we have on offense it doesn’t get much better then that, not having a top 5 offense would be a fail. His having the RB 15 yards deep on these short runs just kill me. As soon as you see it you it’s going to fail.

If Kirby comes back and we still have the same issues that’s a problem that can’t be fixed with just player additions or subtractions.

I nominate this for post of the year

Still not a fan of Shep.

Petzing is adapting.

Aside from Buffalo every offense the lions have played is bottom half in the NFL.

Miami tampa giants and Atlanta are bottom 8 offense

Buffalo, Chicago and New England are top 8. Well see how shep does vs Chicago and New England

Those 3 games are gonna be the only true test of this defense

Yeah, Shep has taken some good leaps forward with the defense, but as you pointed out here, we go again half the D are hurt again. This part just becomes very tiring. Lions can’t seem to catch a break with injuries.

Average is pretty harsh IMO. He’s done pretty well. Some slow starts. I like his adjustments in several games. We literally have 4 or 5 guys likely heading to the hall of fame on offense though. So expectations should be super high. I bet we score 40 tomorrow.

Is our coordinators shortest in the league ? We dont have any edge anywhere

6 taller OCs couldn’t win vs 5’10 1/4” Kyler Murray and the Vikings.
Pretzing (5’7) got down with a can of whoopazz on em. Advantage Lions.
