How much better would these Pistons be with Wembanyama

Kind of pisses me off that the NBA seems to always have a thumb on the scale for the Spurs. I really like Ausar but Wembanyama is generational.

Looking pretty good tonight against the Bulls.

Probably top 5 team. Nba really f ucked the pistons

One game out of the five slot and two games out of Hosting round one. They need to get out of the six so that they don’t face the Knicks.

The Pacers are very beatable they are in the four slot.

The lottery has been terrible for the Pistons and I agree they would be top five at this point

I have not followed the NBA or prospects since the early 2000’s. I do know i didnt care for Wembenyama. Too skinny. I knew Ben Wallace would handle business. Ben Wallace would easily box him out. Ben was strong in his lower body. He would not let Wembemyyama get an inch of ground. But, i dont watch today’s game. Got too fake. No defense. No rotational help defense like the Pistons im used to. Thats why i dont watch. Not sure how people watch Playground ball in the NBA. If its for you, then good. I wanna see authentic.

If it’s defense you are looking for then these Pistons may be for you. Stewart is a damn fine rim protector and Ausar Thompson flies around on both ends of the court. That dude is lightening quick. Cade, Duren, and now Schroder play some pesky D as well. It’s one of the reasons why they’ve been successful this year.

I guess I’m not sure of your motivation to come on here and post if you don’t watch or care for the NBA. In fact you can go into filters and unclick “NBA” and you won’t see these posts. I’m not a big fan of the NHL but I wouldn’t go on one of their threads and shit all over it. What do I care if they like it and I don’t? Not everything is for everyone.

Wemby and Cade would have been the foundation of a championship team. I’m not a conspiracy type of guy, but that shit was rigged.

We are getting better, but my fear now is that we will spend the next decade wallowing in mediocrity. The worst place to be in the nba. Good enough to finish ok, but never good enough to win, and never bad enough to draft another superstar to go with CC.

Yes they’ll probably need to make a trade or get lucky with a Jokic-like pick. This group has intrigued me this year. There’s been growth with Bernie.

At least we have a real reason to watch them now. After following this team over the past decade or so, I’ll take it and be thankful.

I really only care about the Lions. However, i have always been a supporter of all teams from Michigan. I gave up for all teams, except i cant quit football. Cant do it.

Now, i have watched basketball and they just don’t wanna play together. They want Playground basketball and zero defense. Thats why i stopped watching. Sorry, i am not watching a “professional” that cant rotate defense…

Ever see Tom Izzo see that? Yeah, thats me…except i dont need to stress abouts it anymore…

I just stopped caring. They’re all richer than the coach. They wanna play playground basketball with zero defense.

“Did you hit you over on the points tonight?”

Basketball is the fakest sport around.

Maybe Tom Izzo can explain why his defense didnt rotate? (Not this year, but im sure i can pull an example)

They just jumped from a 14 win team to 29-26 with Cade looking like a superstar, Ivey and Duren showing real improvements, Ausar looking like a potential star and even Stewart becoming an elite rim protector, not to mention Holland showing flashes of being a good player. Even Beasley is only 28 and he’s one of the best 3 points shooters in the league. Development isn’t always linear but this isn’t the foundation of a team with a mediocre ceiling at all IMO.

I agree, I’m pretty jacked up about this team. A lot of good young players. Cade has definitely taken it to the next level. And I agree with you on Thompson. That guy is going to be a problem for other teams soon. I’ve been betting the over on his point totals the last few games and have been well rewarded.

Ausar, as a starting 3, has attempted 0 3pt shots in the last month. He has hit 4 in the last 2 months. Beasley had 4 at halftime vs the Bulls.

This will be the craziest thing you will see all.week.

His shot is Bro-Ken. Aint no SF stars that literally dont even attempt 3s nowadays.

Now, 3 years from now? Maybe. Iggy was his comp and he was a pretty shit offensive player for years too, so its possible.

Mechanically, his shot looks pretty sound. My bet is he will start taking more three-pointers and will probably work on it quite a bit this off-season. If he gets that down, watch out. That guy is a lightning snake to the basket. His defense has really shown up in the last few weeks too.

I want to get his brother Amen on the team and release them onto the second unit as the new Pit Bulls. Those two could extend leads off the bench. I suppose like how most # four and #five picks would do. But they would be fun to watch Especially against lesser talent.

He has elite of the elite athleticism, fluidity and feel for the game, defensive awareness. Those are exactly the skills you need to excel as a non-3 point shooter, look at his brother as well. You can be an impact player without a 3 point shot if you facilitate the way he has the last 5 games or so, put constant stress on the defense with that handle and athleticism and defend the way he does. If he sustains this trajectory, I see star potential, not superstar but a guy that make a significant positive impact on a game.

He’s Dennis Rodman-light; slightly smaller, but with very good offensive skills and instincts. If / when he develops that three pointer he’s going to be something. Did you happen to see the failed Allie oop where he touched it to Duren for a dunk? Also, there was another play where he was under the basket and fired that ball to a Piston at the three-point line with some juice on it. Also that dunk he had from the Duren assist was phenomenal.

The nba needs to make the lottery system transparent.

That is a very optimistic point of view. I’m not trying to say you are wrong, just optimistic…which I love btw.

Making the jump from mediocrity to elite seems to be the hardest thing to do.

Somewhere along the line, you have to get a freak. I’m not sure if we have a freak. Maybe they can rock it back to the going to work pistons style. Nothing wrong with a good “team” winning a championship.

You’re absolutely correct with that final statement which is what I meant by development isn’t linear.
My contention is when you have a young team ascending as quickly as this one especially when you have a star to build around like Cade Cunningham, that’s not a mediocre trajectory.

Young teams like the Thunder, Magic, Rockets and Cavs a little before those teams took the jump from mediocre to contender so I don’t see why the Pistons couldn’t make at least an Orlando/Houston-level jump up maybe not this season but next and beyond.
Maybe they don’t and this whole thing stagnates but it seems like a natural progression for this team to continue to get better and not end up as an average team especially when you have an Alpha like Cade orchestrating things.

Yup. They need a top 3 stretch/scoring 4.

Giannis Durant Dirk Kemp, not next step down Jaren Jackson, Tom Chambers, Paolo etc.
