How Much Is Jonah Jackson Worth?

I’ve been searching for the opinions of pundits to estimate what a J. Jackson (OG) extension would look like.
Do you think the Lions will let him test the market and then make an offer? Do you think he’ll be locked up before season’s end? Is he a trade deadline bait potentially?

If we do re-sign him: How much should the Lions be willing to pay him?

I think he will be priced out of the Lions market and they will be searching for a replacement at LG through the draft.

It depends what Jonah thinks he is worth and does he want to spend his prime years playing for a contender or a side in rebuild.

He isn’t getting a top ten guard money here. Maybe 3 years 30 to 35 million or 4 years 45 million max. But think he could easily get 5 to 10 million more in FA over 3/4 years.

I can see Brad replacing him adequately enough with a day 2 pick

Another option would be to extend Glasgow another year and see how sorsdal develops. I’m betting big v probably retires.

I was just gonna ask if Glasgow could play LG and if so does anyone think they roll with Glasgow and Vaitai as guards?

Interesting you think he retires @najacks, definitely possible with all his back issues

You might be right there. He thought about retirement before he came back this season.

While I hope it’s the latter, I would never begrudge anyone for chasing the money. Football is a violent sport, careers are short.

I agree. I would entertain as much as 12mil AAV for Jonah, but that is on the high side for me. Unless something unexpected happens this year, he is probably looking at 16mil AAV+ this off-season. Way to high for my taste at guard.

He talked about it this offseason. He considered retiring this year but wanted to come back and play with Sewell and the guys at least one more time.

It would suck having to replace two OGs in one offseason.

Didn’t we play five guards at one side alone just this past year. Yeah, next man up is working, but for how long?

I agree but that’s unfortunately life in the nfl sometimes. You can’t pay everyone. The extension for st brown, Goff, and Sewell have the highest priority to me.

How big is Sewell’s little brother? Can we trade for him and plump him up into a guard body? Teams would have nightmares of two Sewell’s on the same side of a line. Lol

I think it’s likely JJ will be gone after this season, but who knows?

It takes two to tango and both Brad and Jonah’s agent will have at least 12 more games of information before any decisions are made. I can’t imagine any urgency of extending him during this season. The continued development of Kayode Awosika and Colby Sorsdal, and maybe even Connor Galvin and Michael Niese, are relevant to Jonah’s worth to the Lions next spring.

Exploring what it will take to extend St Brown, Sewell, and Goff–I’m finally on the extend Goff bullet train, further resistance is futile–before the relative peanuts for Jonah are explored is the path I’m expecting from Brad. Now, back to our regularly scheduled in-season programming…

Very rare you see a rookie guard drafted in the lower portion of draft that’s goings to replicate jonahs production. You will see a major drop off imo.

I don’t think we extent Goff. Hooker should be ready to take over in 2 years

If nothing changes with his health or play, 100% he is extended.

He’s worth 4 small beans or 1 large one.
