If we make the superbowl I would really really hope that he would be able to play, moreso for Hutch’s sake than even our own or the team’s. I can’t imagine the gut punch of losing out on that opportunity
That’s not even four months away.
Clickbait kills brain cells, fellas.
I believe in Jesus, so does Hutch, and, that’s what it would take. A miraculous healing.
Here’s the thing. The bones should be healed enough by the Super Bowl, that is true. However, he will have to rehab and get strength built back up in the leg, as well as the rest of his body. He would have to get his body back into game shape.
While I think it’s technically possible he could play in the game, I think the chances are about 5%, and it would be very risky. In addition, if we make the Super Bowl it means we’ve won at least 3 playoff games. Someone would have to sit for Hutch to play, and if he did play I would expect he would be on a huge pitch count. We will see what happens but I think it’s more of a pipe dream, like landing Garrett or Crosby style.
If he’s moving around on it OK by January 26 and we happen to be hosting a football game that day, we burn a roster spot to dress him.
Hutch runs out of the tunnel and pops the â– â– â– â– â– â– â– roof off of Ford Field - Game Over. Lions go to the big one.
If TO can break his leg and play in a Super Bowl 7 weeks later, there’s a chance Hutch can do it in 4 months. Not ruling anything out for that beast of a man, but also not counting on anything.
Step 1… Make the super bowl
That’s the easy part!
The Vikings already clinched the North… I read it on the den

You are spot on here man 100%
Even with limitations Hutch would make an impact. The emotional boost would probably be as important as what he can give us lined up on one end with Crosby on the other.
I read it on the den
It must be true.
I think the odds of this coming to fruition are minute.
That being said, I wouldn’t want to risk Hutch’s future by rushing rehab. I can’t imagine the team would do that.

This above all else.
When DC talked about “knowing Hutch, wouldn’t count him out this year,” I got it - but I also cringed a bit. Cuz Hutch IS crazy-dedicated, and WILL want to come back earlier than anyone thinks possible. But it’s hard to believe that he wouldn’t be better off if he takes the offseason to heal, strengthen that leg, and get fit again
Promise you if the Lions make the SB Hutch will be dressed and running out of the tunnel
Does that mean he plays much? I can not see him doing much. No way he could be a 60 snap guy even at that point. So then how many snaps and do you even bother?
I hate it but you have to consider the long term commitment. I think he will be able to play but not at 100% and I think the Lions shut him down.
I do not want him playing at 80% and doing something that could cause him to never return to current form.
This whole situation stinks. But on the plus side if the Lions sucked this not even a discussion so winning comes with a price. Pressure and expectations are a privilege
If we’re still playing come February I’m at the point where I’d be very surprised if Hutch didn’t suit up. And once he’s suited up, after the frustration of the prior four months and the adrenaline, I wouldn’t be surprised if he played a little more than expected. And if he plays more than expected I wouldn’t be shocked if he actually produced.
But he won’t be out there unless he’s 100%. I just think, given what I’ve been reading, he has a very good chance to be. He won’t be in any kind of game shape, but I don’t think that will necessarily stop him.
But he won’t be out there unless he’s 100%.
He won’t be out there unless the leg is 100% healthy. He has zero shot of being 100% when included fitness and reversing some of the atrophy that will occur. But I think if he’s 80% of his usual self but with no additional risk or re-injury then he would go.
Right, that’s what I meant.
I figured as much

Thank you for verbalizing what I wanted to say but was unable to write properly
