You are at a coffee shop and run into an eccentric, wealthy Lions fan. He makes you a $1 bet that will pay out $1m if you correctly pick a 2026 Detroit Lion draftee. BUT he cannot be picked in the first round or else you also lose the bet and owe him $1.
Who is the draft eligible collegian that you place your high upside $1 bet on?
Jonah Coleman, Washington, 5-8, 2220 lbs. -** Coleman is a total bowling ball that gives tacklers very little to hit. He’s a real handful to get on the ground-and tackle breaking abilities translate well to the NFL. It would have been nice if Coleman worked out at the Combine and that could be considered a red flag, but he is reliable and productive with a style that should translate well.
Me: Cmon the dude weighs over 2000 lbs according to this. Gotta have him.
This is unlikely, but I’d only lose a dollar. I do think they’ll draft a RB at some point so worth a shot.
So I’ll go with Aidan Fisher. LB/Indiana immediate special teams ace. Backs up Jack, maybe works his way to starter WLB? Likely to slow, but Anzalone wasn’t that good when he first got here. So that’s my guy.
Terion Stewart is built the same way. After two years of extreme tackle breaking metrics and plus prediction in the MAC, injuries derailed his VTU season. Probably my favorite round 7 thumper sleeper in this RB class.
If we’re basing it on interest shown so far, Jaishawn Barham might be the guy. Though he feels like he would probably take our 2nd since I don’t think he makes it to the 4th. Still plenty of time left though.
Who was that squatty Northern Illinois RB I liked last year? The one who got hurt during the process and never got a chance (at least so far). Hard not to see him in Stewart.
