That being said, I don’t follow other boards, so I am sure this type of ridiculousness isn’t just a “Lions fan thing.”
But seriously, the calls for shutting players down on here and giving up are just too numerous to ignore. I’m not trying to be Pollyanna and guarantee a Super Bowl win or even a playoff appearance, but the idea that so many of you feel like this season is over, when it just objectively isn’t is disheartening.
I hope the Lions don’t ever have a 15-2 regular season again. It made this board..
I’ve never felt so demoralized by a 7-5 record, but the oline can’t block and they feel like a pre-Campbell 7-5 where you say “not this year, but maybe next”
I mean, this is different than a couple years ago when we were on the rise and we’d lose but look like we’re on the cusp.
we’re not playing like we can. there are games we look absolutely unprepared for that game or the opponent. We don’t adjust well during games, especially defensively.
it’s almost like we were solved a bit and we’re struggling to fix that.
Since you are a Rams fan, I can ask you directly. On whatever equivalent of a board your team has, is there more than one person saying that yesterday’s game showed all the team’s warts and who they ‘really are’ and that Stafford is truly washed up when he gets any pressure against him?
Being disappointed is one thing. Suggesting that we should pack things in while at 7-5 is another. We’ve had multiple posters, although to be fair very few are regulars, posting about just that.
Also, the playoffs last year were a disappointment. The season? No freaking way.
Every board has unrealistic and hyperbolic posters. From the team can do no “wrong” homers to the everything “sucks” posters. And 99% of the time the truth is in the middle.
Me personally, I was disappointed yesterday but it changed my opinion none regarding the Rams being the best team in the league. 2 or 3 rough games in a row? Sure, lets talk. But I dont expect perfection. I do expect anything less than a Superbowl appearance as a bust this year however.
But yes there were the sky is falling posters yesterday in Rams land. And the Rams defense is “overrated” posters. Despite us being 2nd in ppg allowed. Ironically, very few criticize Stafford. Despite Matt being are biggest flop yesterday.
Phew. Well, I am glad this isn’t a localized epidemic. I guess the whole NFL fanbase needs the Kobe stare every now and then.

Also, I realize this. But the chorus of ‘shut it down’ at 7-5 on the board is just a little too loud for me to stand by and not say something.
I want to see 15-2 again, only with more rewards than a first place schedule and low draft picks as a result. Not winning any playoff games last year still really sucks, let alone not winning the SB. But yeah, 7-5 is not really a shit show. Disappointing after last season for sure, but in those 7 wins we have beat the current first place teams in the NFC North. NFC South, and The AFC North. We lost 2 to the Packers, but we had beat them 5 straight before this season though. I hate the loss to the Vikings too. But, same as the Packers, 5 straight losses to us, and we swept both those teams last year. Even if we miss the playoffs this season, we’re still gonna be a good team next year. Hopefully back to top tear SB contenders if Dan and Brad and Co. can fix the Oline. But this year ain’t over. And we ain’t out yet. Disappointment is fine. Grumbling is ok, as long as we stay grounded in reality. Trolls gonna troll. It’s okay to look at the good things too.
We can also be realistic in saying the Rams do have some challenges, mainly on defense. Sure their DLine is very good from top to bottom, but it’s hard to argue their inside backers and secondary aren’t in the bottom half of the league.
With that said they are still clearly a top 3 team in the NFL, and in my mind the SB favorites from the NFC.
Last year the Rams were 5-6…then went on a winning streak to close out the season. They made the playoffs and beat the Vikings. Then they almost upset the Eagles the following week.
When we have our own, selfish expectations we put in others… and they aren’t met… this happens and high narcissistic levels… and in trying to control the future of others and staying in the past with ever growing resentment as our expectations were not care for by others…. We fall into the abyss with many woes…..
I was curious to see what Lions teams have had a record of 7-5 after 12 weeks and what their outcomes were. In the last 45 years, it has only happened four times:
1980- Final Record 9-7 (No playoffs)
1993- Final Record 10-6 (playoffs)
2011- Final Record 10-6 (playoffs)
2013- Final Record 7-9 (No playoffs)
So history says a 75% chance of a winning record and a coin flip for the playoffs. I will take those odds any year, regardless of ‘expectations’ coming into a season. You just never know what can happen.
