The thing I’ve been noticing about the Dline is, they’ve been playing great “contain” since Hutch has been out.
We may not be getting the sacks, but, these guys are definitely setting the edge.
My question is, why would anybody doubt Brad in the first place? He’s stacked like 3 Hall of Fame level drafts in a row and letting go of guys like Golladay, Jamaal and Jackson while replacing them with much cheaper and better options in Josh Reynolds, Tim Patrick, Monty and Zeitler looks like genius. Not to mention the AA signing, absolute steal of a contract and, oh yeah, that Goff trade.
I’m sure there’s others I haven’t mentioned as well.
Not to mention a franchise that was in the bowels of the NFL shot right up to the top of the league in 2-3 years engineering arguably the greatest, and swiftest, turnaround in sports history and NOW you’re done doubting Brad? The man is a GM savant.
Love AA but there are no “big hits” with this Lions team unless it was Goff going down and even then I bet they’d find a way to keep the offense humming along fairly well because of this offensive line and the wealth of weapons in the run and pass game. This team embodies “next man up” mentality moreso than any other team I’ve seen in my lifetime, they’ll be absolutely fine and I also think the Long signing will be more helpful than some think, he can play.
Not complaining about Holmes but i dont see this great depth you are talking about. Most of those 2nd stringers are JAGs and i hold my breath when they get extensive playing time and they are regularly on the bottom of the PFF reports.
No team has super talented depth, the league isn’t set up to allow for it. You gotta go with youth and cheap dudes.
What makes depth good to me is do you keep winning when they have to play? Do they do the job well enough that it doesn’t cost us victories? In that respect, so far so good.
