I traveled to South Carolina and was surprised at how some parts of it had an accent that sounded like what we associate with deep Louisiana. I have no idea what the connection is, but clearly there is one. This guy is not a one off. I looked back at some of his other interviews earlier in life, and the accent is there. But he seems to be fighting it a bit. I guess going pro and being genuinely happy let his guard down and the cajun came out.
