For sure, people often forget Wash has 5 years experience as DC. 2 top 10 defenses in those 5 years as well. The defense fell apart when they traded away their top players, but when he had talent, he lead some very good defenses. Lead the entire nfl in sacks one year.
That would be my guess as well.
I’ll be pretty shocked if Arizona opts for Glenn. I do think it would be an inspired hire but I just think they’ll opt for the most marketable choice which is clearly Flores.
Or we could pull a Hoodie move and flip Ben Johnson to DC.
I know you’re kidding, but sometimes that actually works. Megatron was saying on Richard Sherman’s podcast that he could possibly be an even better DB coach than WR coach because he could teach all the db’s the tricks and fine details of route running. Essentially helping the DB’s see the game from the other perspective, makes sense really. Sherman completely agreed.
I have been thinking about this for years. I feel like guys are repeatedly thrown into whatever role they played instead of being the fox in the hen house for the other side. More receivers need to be DB coaches. And more QBs need to be secondary coaches. More offensive lineman need to be defensive line coaches. Can you imagine all of the things Taylor Decker could teach a defensive line that would annoy the shit out of an offensive lineman?

Exactly, Decker and Sewell were apparently really helping Houston, who was on scout team the 1st 10 weeks of the season according to what Wash, the D-line coach was saying. That’s great to hear and it shows they want to help each other get better. That’s not always the case in many locker rooms.
I think MCDC will use the same approach that Brad is using with the roster…develop and advance.
The reality is that if you are a consistently good team, you are going to lose coordinators to become head coaches. You have to be thinking about that just like you think about veterans leaving in free agency. You need to be constantly on the look out for young/hungry smart guys that want to be head coaches/GM’s one day and get them in your building.
You should be scouting them just as much as you scout potential draftees and free agents. No one loss should catch you off guard. Have a plan for most everything so when it happens there is little to no disruption in the operation.
I think acquiring talent, developing talent, and promoting talent is the aim of the culture at all levels and throughout this organization.
This is business 101 that too often gets lost with
insecure management (which often manifests itself with outsized egos).
That is the culture all organizations should aspire to on my mind.
This sort of culture will attract the best and the brightest— who want to advance themselves.
This is what we’re catching glimpses of here and there when we read about solid people being added to the front office or FA players saying they want to be here (because they’ve never had the success they’re having here).
This culture stuff is powerful over time and I think that’s exactly what they’re doing.
