Ifeatu Melifonwu?

Then big schlong is number three on the list.

Word but let’s see what branch does in that role…

Edit - clarifying as a blitzing role
I think he would be the best at that too

He’s made a few plays but also a few lapses.

Hea made a lot of decent plays in coverage… he has very good ball skills. Not sure why you’d want to limit him in coverage.

I think it’s what would you rather.

CB1 - Davis
CB2- Arnold
nickel- Robinson
FS- Joseph
SS- branch

OR

CB1- Davis
CB2- Arnold
nickel- branch
FS- Joseph
SS- iffy

I like the second option better.

I refuse to move branch back to nickle outside of a few plays a game. He has been borderline elite at safety and i prefer an elite safety to an elite nickle

We only bring in nickel a few plays a game. He would essentially replace amik Robinson.

Iffy made way more big plays than amik.

31 snaps against the vikings and 54% of snaps onnthe season. I will stick with branch at safety for more than half the game

We’ve found the role for Branch at safety. He is playing at an All-Pro level and never coming off the field.
Iffy can rotate between Nickel LB (the JRM role), Big Nickel in place of Robertson, and Safety if either starter is injured or needs a break.

I don’t, Branch is much more impactful as a safety and that’s saying something because he was very good as a nickel.

Well Iffy can rotate in those spots, however, his biggest questionable ability is availibility.

#1 by a MILE!! Iffy cannot play man coverage, if he’s asked to cover a TE or RB, he’s toast… He’s fine in zone

This team is better with a healthy Iffy but Branch and Kirby should never come off the field.

Find a role for him but not as a starter. As mentioned, nickle cover LBer?

Safety Ifeatu Melifonwu, who has not played this year and was placed on injured reserve in Week 4, is also working his way back from an ankle injury.

“The best I can tell you is he’s progressing, he’s gotten better and he’s better than he was when we put him on injured reserve,” Campbell said. “That’s a good thing, and that’s why we did it. We wanted to get him right and not feel pressured or hurried to get him out there and get it to where he feels comfortable. He feels good about it, he feels good about his body, and so he’s progressed nicely.”

I really wish he were healthy. He was a lightning bolt to this D last year. We need those blitzing chops out there! I obviously want him to be 100% though. Any updates here?

He was eligible to return last week… Absolutely zero news… Ankles are tricky, I had a minor break in mine and it didn’t feel right for 6 months and could run/jump until 9 months… I didn’t go to the doctor or get PT, obviously he’s getting the best care possible. Hopefully he can come back in a few weeks and be ready for the playoffs

FYI - He went on the IR in September.

He’s close to coming back is what I was told just last week.

I’ve put this on the board a few times now but the Lions have a game plan for when he returns. They want to run more Big Nickel sub packages.

He knows they want to use him as the starting big nickel.

I wonder if the addition of Smith will change that plan?

I believe Iffy had Achilles Tendonitis. The same condition that has kept CMc away from the 49ers all season. Well CMc is back and I think Iffy will begin his 21 day window soon. Hopefully he can be on the field in December.
