I'll admit it.... I care more about winning the Division than a SB right now-

That will change this year if Goff starts 17 games.

No, it won’t. So what if he has a great season? He’s had great seasons before with us and w McVay. The view of him has been long established that when he has good coaching and talent around him he does better than average……next year won’t change that……just more of the same. Jared Goff saga comes down to what gives the lions the best chance to win and not break the bank for the winning……you can win w him and he will be in Detroit for a minute……

Yes but most HCs and GMs are accurate.

These people aren’t geniuses for the most part. Aaron Rodgers is DONE… crazy… dark… brooding and disinterested. His ass is making them beg him to play for 50M? Jets will give up at least 2 seconds or some conditional versions to do nothing in New York? Why…. Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson- now the prospect of trading #13, a second and a 2024 1st for AR or Stroud seems unthinkable.

Funny thing is with Hall, Wilson, Lazard, Hardman, Conklin, and a D- it’s possible a talented rookie works….

Most top QBs have elite casts and top coaching…

That is not necessarily true.

And your point is flawed. Bc the NFL doesn’t look at Goff like they look at those people who are thinking. Those elite qbs are considered elite bc they make everyone better and can do a lot on their own. Goff is better when his team is better. A sucker is born every day but if you think Goff nets 2 firsts or people are beating down AP doors to inquire about him I believe you would be in for a surprise.

He won’t… right now- yet if we field a top 7 defense, score 485 points and Goff has 4,700 with 33 tds and a SB run he’d be worth 2 firsts.

Agree to disagree. He has already done those things. People still don’t see him as anything more then what some in Detroit refuse to see….

Yes, this is very true and accurate…but I think you and QBhater are talking about 2 different things.

Coincidently every elite QB happened to have elite players around them. It’s clear that you and your sources have decided you get to decide “who elevates players” and who is “elevated by their players.”

I would say what Goff did with a band of misfits the 2nd half of 21’, and even throughout 22’ indicates he can elevate.

It’s amazing what a proven QB friendly HC, a solid pair of WRs…a first round talent at TE and a first round talent at RB with an improved defense did for T Lawrence last year.

The Bills have traded a 1st and paid top 5 money to Diggs, paid top 4-5 slot money to Cole Beasley, paid a 6M 1 yr to Emmanuel Sanders, and drafted Gabe Davis and K Shakir since 2019…. They have also drafted D Knox…. And drafted Singletary, Z Moss, and J Cook while acquiring N Hines, and now D Harris…. That’s a pretty firm commitment to keeping talent around him-

  • I’m not saying it’s not sound strategy, but I’m questioning why every single team spends nearly 50% of their resources trying to give their QBs weapons, and blocking.

Bold prediction… whoever the Panthers draft will live and die by the defense and turnovers. I could see Bryce or Stroud winning 6 games with that D, and ball control. If they try and pass to win, either will look like T Law as a rookie, or worse. If they go all in with proven talent like Miami in 24’- then either could leap forward…. But then you are paying 42M to WRs, 10am to a TE and 8M at QB…. Detroit could spend 42M at QB, 15M at WR and 3M at TE and do the same.

  1. it’s not clear that me and my sources have decided who can elevate and who can’t. What is clear is that we disagree on this topic. However, my perspective is weighted by more than my personal take and bias.
2)not every elite qb has elite talent around him……
  2. Goff beginning of last year sucked and people wanted him gone and cast off “misfits”. OC replaced w BJ and suddenly Goff looks salvageable to a degree and this year is more of the same….a collective effort.

Not sure who thought Goff ‘sucked’ the first half last year. He was throwing for 64% of his passes, 15 TDs 2300 yards and a 94 rating while leading a top five offense. That’s not suck

Sure he was even better the second half and ended the season rewriting a bunch of Lions records and the fifth best streak of passes without a puck in league history. But that insane second half doesn’t mean the first half was chopped meat

I also think characterizing his last season as ‘salvagable’ is moderately hilarious

I mean

It was to a degree tbh, he really needed to show out, and he went out and did last year

Id say he salvaged himself a bit for sure, question is what he is worth on the market atm

Id say at maximum a 1st, simply cause while he does have his issues, hes shown to be a starting caliber QB, and thats always gonna be some good worth right there

Top five offense. Top five in most Advanced Stats. Several franchise records. Historic amount of passes without an Int and its ‘salvageable to a degree’

If Stafford had that exact year people would be jizzing themselves

Bro i dont think you get what im saying here

Im saying he salvaged himself last season, not that he still needs salvagaing

hes actually respected more, hes a pro bowler, and he deserves a significant amount of credit for the second half of the season.

But its also true to a degree that he does need a system that fits his needs though, and hes had some stinkers before.

Value is a 1st atm, could be wrong, could be more or less tbh, we dont know what front offices truly think of Goff atm

I know what you’re saying and it’s different context that what Hater said. You’re saying Goff salvaged the image of himself by balling out. I don’t disagree

Hater said at the end of last season Goff looked ‘salvageable to a degree’. That’s what I think is an intentional understatement of a great season

Yeah thats fair enough

i just thought you assumed i was in that line of thinking that he still needs to be salvaged

The thing Goff is what value the FO’s in the league view him in currently, cause hes had high highs and low lows for sure, and it makes him difficult to truly gauge league wide value on him

10000% yes.
We are a contender → NOW!

Nobody wants to face a healthy Lions team in the playoffs this year.
Ask Philly
Ask Buffalo
Ask GB

I’ve always hoped that he could be our Eli Manning. Manning was above average. Manning won 2 SBs

So I had a typo…that’s on me. But BJ didn’t replace Lynn last year either so it was kinda there that I didn’t mean last year.

Also go away……you just create negative energy. Have no use for you and we have already established this.

lol no, you go away

And I don’t think ‘salvageable to a degree’ is a typo. It’s a silly characterization

Of course you are not going away and neither am I….your comments are still generally toxic.

Oh no. You misunderstand. Saying last year was a typo, Salvageable is accurate. You don’t agree?Cool.
