I’ve been saying the rumors aren’t great on Mike Green, and here they’re openly discussed (2 sexual assault chargers). Looks like one of my crushes Kevin Winston might have deeper injury issues.

Yeah the draft media types are a little more forthcoming with injury issues (though I still can’t find out for certain what Josh Simmons’ injury was), less so with character stuff, for good reason. Can’t ruin a guy’s reputation based on a rumor. I’d heard rumors about Green’s SA stuff, but this is the first place I’ve seen it in print. Same with Nolen, even if he doesn’t go into specifics.
PLEASE (everybody) do not quote me on this, because I can’t remember where exactly I read this…and this was a while ago…
I think he had a PCL or LCL tear in his knee. Wasn’t an ACL or MCL that I recall. My memory leans PCL.
The Ryan Day Buckeyes are extremely quiet about injuries, for good reason, so it can be hard to get that info.

I’ve heard both torn ACL/PCL, which would be fine, and torn patellar tendon (that’s what Albert Breer said back in November), which is a totally different animal. I’m not the only one wondering what it is, a lot of people have heard both things, but I think it’s a good sign that the most connected guys like DJ and Dane keep mocking him pretty high.

He’s supposed to make a full recovery from whatever it is. I remember that being one of the first headlines after he got hurt is that he was supposed to be fine long term.
I still can’t get over the fact that the same Josh Simmons I watched in 2023 is going to be a first round draft pick.
I REALLY can’t get over the fact that a team starting Josh ■■■■■■■ Fryar won a national championship.
He had the tools though, even if he had an up-and-down transition. But the fact that he was jumping up a level gave me some hope he would improve with more reps, and so it proved this year. I think he probably had the best tape of any OL, though it came against pretty weak competition. Still, if he’s only got a torn ligament I think he’d probably be atop my board at OT.
I don’t recall seeing anything about a torn patellar tendon on any of the OSU websites that I visit (a lot less frequently from here).
Obviously that doesn’t mean he didn’t tear it, but I thought I’d say that.
It could have been started by Breer who might have been misinformed since he hasn’t said much about it since. But he does have some excellent contacts:

Contrary to what that article suggests, on the Athletic football show Dane said the feedback from Ole Miss people was much better than from those at A&M.

I saw a Tend’ & Patellar magic show once.
Yeah I’ve heard that too. That said the one A&M fan who told me what a headache he was last summer literally predicted he would be on his best behavior at Mississippi and have a good year, like someone in the NFL in a contract year. According to him his issues aren’t hugely worrying, just a big-timer with his own handlers who wants special treatment, etc…
I don’t remember where I heard it (it may have been one of your posts) but Simmons is expected to make a full recovery and be released and workout for teams sometime in April before the draft.
That would be good news and point to something other than a torn patellar tendon. No one’s really ever come back from that one, at least not to the level they used to be. Though maybe there’s more confidence for a lineman since most have been skill players who have to do a lot more cutting and juking.
Interesting that we called this “injury/character” red flags.
I think Brad interprets one as value and the other as a non starter.
