Interesting Goff Stat

Don’t like!

I mentioned in another thread how much he struggles under pressure. Though he didn’t against Minnesota. I think he was loose and letting it rip. I hope he plays that way Sunday

The Rams don’t generate much pressure or many sacks from the ends, it’ll all come from the middle… Our guards can’t play like they did in Dallas or we’re in trouble.

I think this stat is a little bit misleading. What’s the difference between struggling under pressure and bailing under pressure? That stat grades negatively for throw aways (incompletions)

There was a axis chart posted a few weeks ago that showed for the most part the lions offensive line was exceptional at keeping pressure away from Goff. But when it did allow pressure it allowed it almost immediately.

What Goff does in that situation is toss the ball away. He doesn’t try to scramble, he doesn’t try to make a hero throw, he lives for the next down. And in a vacuum that might seem like a detriment. But talking a macro view he stays healthy and limits sacks and turnovers. BJ said last year that he appreciated it and it ‘made him look better’

Another stat posted was that Goff is in the top three in the league at not taking a sack under pressure. Also we all know this offense in every metric is top 3-5. Yards, points, explosive plays….

I’m not opposed to having a QB who turfs the ball when a defender wins a rep and has a free run at him. Not if the end result is this offense

As they are when analyzed out of context (always). When an OL breaks down constantly, & a QB gets graded poorly for not hitting completions toWRs that aren’t open, or there are constant hot routes due to quick pressure, etc, etc, etc… not a fan of analyzing games this way.

Goff is a 5-7 QB on an amazing offense, which should be fine to get us a Super Bowl.
