I mean, the greatest coach in the Super Bowl era, no doubt. But let him get a few rings before we knocking around GOAT status.
Dan Campbell is the best coach we have had since the 50’s. The only other coach who is close is Wayne Fontes, who also got us to an NFCCG, and had multiple 10 win seasons. However, we never won another playoff game after the divisional game against the Cowboys in 1991. Dan already has two post season wins. Also, the 1992 Lions had a terrible letdown year. With Fontes, we had some extremely talented teams and it always felt like we were leaving more wins and success on the table.
With Campbell, it’s very much the opposite. The 2024 Lions are already at 12 wins, the same place we were last year after a full season. The Lions have only won 12 games 3 times in their history, and Campbell has 2 of them in a row. One of our franchise marks in futility is that no head coach of the Lions has ever gotten another job. Dan Campbell we are all hoping is a lifer and never leaves, however, look at the fact we’ve already got teams licking their chops to poach our coordinators. That is a mark of success, and a sign of respect around the NFL that you’ve got something working.

However, if Dan was brought in with Russ Thomas or Chuck Schmidt running the front office, how would he do?
I honestly believe Joe Schmidt was a great coach under terrible leadership.
So glad we have Dan, Bradd, Chris & Sheila running the team. It allows all to succeed.

- Remember when I asked a few years ago, upon this hiring, would you all be happy as a version of the Bills, with four straight conference championships but we lost them all? And you mostly said yes ….
Let’s try to heat the Bills and finish out this year.

Yes he is…in the SB era. If he wins at least 2 SBs I think he becomes the greatest coach in Detroit sports history. Better than Sparky, better than Daly, and better than Bowman.

There is nobody from the Lions in my 40 years of watching football that I would rather have.
I know you’re just having fun, but I believe that Goff is better for this Lions team than Stafford would be. I’m thankful for the years Stafford gave the Lions, but am also thankful that it’s Goff leading this current team
