Anything less than a superbowl will be a bust. With that said, that doesn’t mean we would need to shake anything up, we are just getting started. It is extremely difficult to win a Super Bowl, it’s more than just being the best team in the NFL.
Have to say it is.
As was previously said, it’s very difficult (obviously) but I don’t see how we can truly be happy with anything less. This team has IT and thankfully could have IT for the foreseeable future.
It feels SO good to write that and actually believe it to be true.
Thank you baby Jesus.
keep winning and simply big in the playoffs for a chance two years in a row and to have three winning season in a row is a miracle and I want it to continue
97% of teams don’t win the Super Bowl. That’s a very high failure rate.
I remember year after year of looking at the standings and the schedule and plotting our way to the number 6 seed, and failing most seasons. The week to week Lions fan experience was miserable, we played bad football, we lost and we argued among ourselves about why.
Now the week to week is great fun. We play good football, we have great players in every position, we win. We can be proud of this team.
If we get five months of joy and pride and then lose the Super Bowl it’s not a failure. It’ll hurt like hell in the moment but if you don’t value the journey and the actual feelings you felt across the whole season, if all that is wiped out by the result of the last game, then I think you’re doing life wrong.
It’s hard to win a Super Bowl. Even with the best roster in the league and an 8-1 start we have a 13-15% chance of winning it, or an 85-87% chance of not winning it. Why anyone would decide to get emotionally all in on an outcome that’s that unlikely I don’t know, you’re just asking for pain by creating an expectation of success in that scenario.
All of this!
Of course we all want to win the Super Bowl. I have tried to even imagine what it would mean to the city of Detroit and can’t even begin to fathom how much. Even to people that don’t follow the Lions, let alone all of us die-hard fans.
But if they don’t for some reason, and there are countless numbers of reasons, this team is built to do this again next year, and the year after, and the year after that, until they do win it all. They won’t bust if they don’t win it all just like they didn’t bust last year. So, cheer for our Lions all the way, but this team is never going to be a bust.
I will admit I am dumb but the options confused me. I assumed the Bust meant if we don’t make it to the Super bowl the season is a bust. Though I now question “or not” as meaning we win the Super bowl. Sorry to make you deal with my stupidity this early in the morning.
I just do believe that this team should have the expectation of making it to the Super Bowl. Anything less to me is a failure for the season. Just insane I am speaking this line about the Lions that if they don’t make the Super Bowl its a failure for the season.
Well said.
I’m enjoying the heck out of football, especially the last three years with Lions, UM and UGA but most of all the Lions. It sucks losing in the playoffs but football is now enjoyable and the process is a big part of it.
Same thing for the Tigers who seem to be working on a process that is producing results, ahead of schedule even.
Lose, it sucks but man the season is fun.
I don’t know why it would be. When have you ever seen the Lions win back 2 back division titles?? When have you ever seen the Lions have back 2 back years of double digit wins?? I don’t even have to mention playoff wins but I will say the Lions lifted another curse. Usually the Lions will take a step forward as they did in 2022 but would have slipped back to the bottom of the division by now. This regime hasn’t allowed that. So if they get back to the Championship game but don’t win it would still be progress IMO!
I think it is, but that’s more from a team angle than anything. Dan’s driving a bus that has Superbowl on the nameplate as its destination. If it doesn’t reach the destination, then it’s stopped short of where we/they all intended to be.
A. They’ve proven themselves capable.
B. They’re carrying the disappointment of missing out by a hair last year.
Their buy-in inspires our buy-in. Their determination inspires our confidence. Superbowl Bound!!!
Well I am using that because it confirms that things have, indeed, changed. That said….the bar they have set is getting to the NFC Championship. If they do that again then they have touched that bar.
