Or is this the most “meh” draft we have had in a long, long time.
I don’t hate our draft. I don’t think we had a BAD draft. I just don’t have much feeling about it one way or another. I feel like we got a couple starters to replace some guys, but dont think we moved the needle as far as getting back to the NFCC or dare I dream…beyond.
It’s just new territory for us as fans. We’re not used to having a gm that is one of the best in the league. We’ve never been in a position of having such a talented team that our entire draft is for depth. That’s my take on it.
Thinking the same thing. Just kinda underwhelming. Not just the Lions draft but the whole thing. Maybe it’s because there was such a big built up to it. It seemed much bigger at least around here than in the past.
He’s going to hit. Think of all the space he’ll have out there with ARSB, Jamo, and Sam running routes at the same time. He’s in a fantastic spot for a rookie WR if he can get the timing down quick. He has a shot to push Patrick down the depth chart at some point this year. Might be next.
It’s not as exciting as picking in the top 10 and having lots of early picks, but that’s what happens when you have a good team and you’re not trading players away for a rebuild.
I get it. 2 guards, a DT a late edge player and an unheralded WR in rd. 3.
I LOVE it though!
Last year I wanted 2 CBs and we got that. Then we got weird guys in Vaki and Manu. Development guys. We followed that with Mahogany and Wingo and I loved that two. The last two picks showed real promise.
Graham wasn’t good last season. Now we have options.
I also LOVE the TyLeik Williams pick.
I have always believed games are won and lost up front. The Lions added guys to help Dan Campbell continue to play bully ball.
I get hard to be excited here. But the Lions have serious weapons but cracks were developing up front on both sides of the ball and those cracks, the foundation, is now sealed. I LOVE that.
This is an investment draft. We invested in Goff, Gibbs Amon Racsnd LaPorta. We invested in Hitch, Joseph and Jack Campbell. Gotta like that.
100% it was meh bc it’s not sexy. We didnt pick top 10. This was a trench draft. We got future stars over the next 3 years. We are extending Goff’s health w a solid young line and we are making it easier to sign our own. This draft didnt tread water it made our offensive line better and our defensive line better and our wr core better. When you have a top 2 roster you don’t need to do as much. But yeah it was boring. Boring is great.
