I like to check other fan bases social media and I’m glad I did. Did you realize that Goff might be the worst QB of all time?

Count me as one who is thankful Daniel’s is not in a Chicago Bears uniform right now. I think he’s going to be a problem as long as he can stay healthy. Maybe Washington can come in and beat us. It wouldn’t be the most outrageous thing ever. Maybe some of those pundits are right. If you vehemently think otherwise, you should be betting your house and everything you own on the Lions moneyline.

I don’t mind the Talking Heads picking the other teams or talking about outstanding players who don’t play for the Detroit Lions. It would get rather boring if everyone of them said Lions, Lions, Lions. Chiefs, Chiefs, Chiefs. That would get real monotonous, real quick.

I had a peak at their Reddit and saw enough to learn some people have nicknamed them the manders.

That’s all I need to learn about them.

Way too early to crown a rookie. That said, there is no way to accurately say who the “best” QB is. Each ones situation is different… QB talent and experience, skill around them(OL, WRs, TEs, RBs), scheme and overall coaching are all factors. Some are in great situations and can do well without being the most talented.

This is the problem with that whole Football’s Hipster Society/Data Science wing of the football media.

It’s like that Twain quote: There are liars. damn liars and statisticians.

They identify their preferred narrative. Then they sort and frame and finagle bits of nouveau metrics to fit that narrative.

And these are often very smart people. They know what they are doing. They know how disingenuous the intellectual activity is. But it must do well in terms of engagement and so the behavior persists or perhaps even spreads.

When you get to play the Giants and the Cowboys twice a year, you can sneak into the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Lions played in by far the toughest division in the league and despite winning 15 games only secured the division title in week 18.

Nice win vs. Tampa, but how battle-hardened are they really?

Gonna see on Saturday night.

Am I the only one who’s primary takeaway from watching that game was “my gawd is TB choking here”?

Yeah, I only saw highlights. Just giving them credit for the W.

I thought Tampa was going to take care of them. They were certainly capable of doing that, so choke is an appropriate term.

The Bucs were out of synch. Then Baker scrambled and runs over Bobby Wagner late in the first half. From that point forward the Bucs owned WAS. 72% success rate which is absurd. The Lions led the league at 49.6%. The Bucs were done in by two inexcusable mistakes: the Bkaer fumble off McMillan’s leg and the Barton early snap on 3rd an inches. If they handle those two plays they win by double digits.

Yall need to realize shows like GMF ESPN and etc are all made for click bait views and arguments.

More the half the time the hosts dont even agree with the take, but its in the script.

Its most news outlets. Extreme opinions. Because extreme opinion means you either completely agree and pound your chest. Or completely disagree and yell at the tv.

FS1 Host Says Jayden Daniels Is Better Than Detroit Lions Jared Goff

While Goff put up bigger numbers than the rookie, FOX Sports 1 host of ‘Breakfast Ball’ Danny Parkins explained that he believes Daniels is the better all around player of the two. Parkins argued that Goff is able to put up bigger stats because he has more skill talent around him.

“Jayden Daniels is better than Jared Goff. Jared Goff is just in a better situation. Doesn’t mean Jared Goff isn’t good, but he has continuity in a system," Parkins said. "He is a veteran, he’s got the best offensive line in football. He’s got the best running back duo in football, he’s got a top-five receiver, he’s got a top-five or six tight end. Jared Goff is in a much better situation, so he’s put up better numbers. But what Jayden Daniels is doing is more impressive than what Jared Goff is doing. So if you were saying, ‘I get to start a franchise with a guy’ or who’s individually the better player? I’m already pretty comfortable saying that’s Jayden Daniels.”

The way I read it saying who is more likely to lead a game winning drive between Daniels and Goff is more about the teams than it is the players. For the Lions to win they probably won’t need a game winning drive because they will be ahead by double digits. Now Washington that’s different. The only way they do win is by a last minute drive or a FG or something :person_shrugging:

And that was after TB nearly choked away the playoffs entirely against the mighty Saints in week 18. Not clutch.

They still would have made the playoffs even if they had lost to the Saints

In reality, it’s even worse than just cherry-picking. They take a questionable, subjective opinion - say, “running quarterbacks are better than pocket passers”, and then they invent some metric that gives a bonus to quarterback runs. They then turnaround and use that metric to “prove” that running quarterbacks are “objectively” better than pocket passers. Because you can’t argue that a bigger number is better than a smaller number.

The worst part is, when reality doesn’t agree with their goofy metric, it’s reality that gets questioned, not the metric.

Sometimes. I think most of the time it’s people with middling brainpower who fancy themselves as and wish to be thought of as smart. Pseudo-intellectuals drive me bonkers.

Daniels is really good. If I was a fan of the team, I would be concerned with such a skinny guy running that much, but as long as he stays healthy then I think he’ll remain really good.
