That is the only conclusion I can draw after listening to some of the analysts and former players on ESPN. Don’t get me wrong, he is an extremely impressive QB, rookie or otherwise. However, on a segment they asked who they trusted most among the NFC QBs—all except one said Daniels. Another segment asked who was more likely to lead a game winning drive—Goff or Daniels. All but one said Daniels.
No offense but choosing a rookie over Goff or him over Goff, Stafford and Hurts?
For all you know, these takes can be dictated by the networks to push a narrative that drives viewership. Not buying it. Let’s just get to the damn game. They are a good team. Let’s beat them.
It’s for clicks and attention. It wouldn’t be as exciting to say Goff, Stafford, or Hurts. What they say and truly believe (if they were betting their own $$$) are probably not one and the same.
What is funny to me is that there are 8 QBs left in the Playoffs:
Mahomes
Allen
Lamar
Stroud
Goff
Hurts
Stafford
Daniels
Of those 8 there is only 1 that I might rank below Daniels and that is Stroud.
It is fair to say that Stroud and Daniels are the 2 worst QBs left in the playoffs. And I do not think this is even a debate or worth an argument.
You can say without even a debate that Mahomes/Allen/Lamar are just better in every way. Then you look at Stafford and Goff and both are just better right now. So you are left with Hurts/Stroud/Daniels.
But yeah JD is going to single handedly beat the Lions…more than likely he is going to go on a stroll and find out that BB hits with bad intentions and that maybe he should have taken the advice to side more seriously rather than think he can dance his way to a 1st down.
You take the starch out of a rookie running QB by lighting his ass up. You blitz him and you hit him and make him realize this is the playoffs and not a meaningless regular season game against the last place losers teams he has been barely beating all season and thinking he is HIM.
Listen he has been solid and had a great season. But he is about to find out what it is like to play a real playoff team.
I am pretty stoked to watch the Sunday Bills Ravens game as that will be 2 legit teams slugging it out. The other 3 games I suspect will be pretty easy wins for the home teams. I think Philly starts playing better or maybe they don’t and Rams upset them. But the weather could have a huge impact in this game as the Rams are a passing team and Philly is a physical running game.
LOL yeah the Rams are going to get their asses handed to them. Temps will be at or below freezing with windy snowy conditions from noon to 6pm. So that 3pm kickoff will be right in the middle of the crappy weather.
Not sure if you saw or not, but the NFL decided make an exception and induct him into the HOF after this season since hes already the best QB of all time.
The young, sexy QB will always drive the narrative… Gotta get people excited for the next best thing… Until the NEXT next big thing (most likely Shedeur Sanders)
Nine days ago, Darnold was in the MVP conversation. Now it’s likely he’ll get a very reduced contract or his outright release from Minnesota. Daniels is good and I’m glad he’s not in our division. But I have faith that our defense will contain him and our offense will score enough points to put pressure on him.
Look I like Daniels but it wasn’t like they set the world on fire in Tampa. Baker had a fumble that pretty much decided the game. And that kicker will cost them. Lions just have to play our game and we’re good. If we have turnovers and stupid penalties and let them hang around Daniels gives them a chance.
Well, that’s just idiotic and not worth the attention tbh. I don’t even know how they could take him over Stafford and Hurts as a guy they’d pick to win a playoff game at this point in their respective careers, three guys that have been to Superbowls and have gone on lengthy playoff runs recently, but the media loves to suck off the next big thing and run with it. Jordan Love was the flavor of the year last year and going into this one. I think Daniels will be better than Love long term and probably is already but the point still stands.
There is no incentive for the media to say “this looks like its clearly this way” there are all the incentives for the media to say “look out it could go either way”
This is true in sport as much as it is in politics, weather, economics, or anything else.
No one should ever take any NFL TV ‘analyst’ seriously. I enjoy watching some of them for entertainment purposes from time to time, but serious analysis, no way. It’s the equivalent of watching Grey’s Anatomy (or pick your favorite medical TV show) and thinking it’s good enough to be armed with quality information in the medical field.
For so long, rookie qbs were bad as a rule. It’s almost like coaches figured out how to patch over the bad rookie stuff with some of these guys and now they hit growing pains in years 2 and 3 more than they used to. The little dude from Carolina seems to be more along the traditional trajectory.
screw Jayden Daniels ! , he’s just the flavor QB of the month. you know how many dozens of other QB’s that were anointed as the greatest , before? lmao.
I don’t underestimate JD, but “the greatest ever” ? -save it.
