He explains what he believes happens with Stafford’s contract (remember no one on the internet has seen Stafford’s contract, they just see a summary of the details of his contract as determined by the NFLPA) and he talks about the “Final Cap Year” rules, if the CBA isn’t extended before the start of the league year, further complicating Stafford’s contract.
I couldn’t understand why the Lions restructured Stafford’s contract in 2019, as opposed to doing it this year . . . now I know why, 2020 is potentially the final cap year if the CBA ISN’T extended (I didn’t know we were entering the final cap year). If that happens, a restructure would be calculated differently.
