Is Pickett going to be the guy that drops?

False. He has short arms for his height. His arms are only 32’’ long. Someone 6’1’’ should have 35-37’’ arms.

No this is false…since 36” is the longest arms in nfl history, I’d say 35-37” is surely not average.

33-34 is average for a 6’4 plus OT, 33 for guards and 32.25 for center.

Most of which are taller than Donald.

False. Longest arms ever are 38.5 Jon Harris DE

If he wants to jump off a building and glide to the the ground.

When is the last time one QB went in the first round? If only one has been taken by the time the lions pick at 31/32, either the lions will select one or will trade the pick to someone who will.

False. Donald should have had 35-37 inch arms at 6’ tall. I’m not sure what book you are reading out of, but clearly we are reading out a different one. Aaron Donald will need to grow his arms if he wants to be successful in the NFL.

I am sorry you had to find out like this.

2013 off the top of my head. It doesn’t happen all that often, but classes also usually aren’t this bad.

Only if he’s a pterodactyl

Tony Romo came in at 8” 7/8

There’s actually been a lot of QB’s who have come in under 9” and studies have shown there no correlation between fumbles and hand size. It’s a myth that has been proven false.

Because it’s been proven you can do exercises and messages to lengthen your hand size prior to the combine. A lot of these guys like Burrow were under 9” prior to these precautions. He will likely take the precautions and come in close to or over 9” like every other QB who supposedly had too small of hands.

About the myth and those studies. Here’s an article about it.

Let me make my point clear. First, when I personally speak about hand size for quarterbacks, I am not focused on fumbling. My concern is the ability to “grip it and rip it.” Having 8 inch hands is problematic. And while some guys have managed to make it work in college, the NFL football is larger and harder to get your hands around. It can also be more slick than a college ball at times. And to the last point about the football, teams have less ability to manipulate the ball. In college if a kid is having trouble gripping a football, they can literally change the materials of the football (within the parameters).

Secondly, I think the “hand size” metric is flawed because it only accounts for one dimension. In the NBA they take finger length into account. Without that measurement, its hard to dial in the guys that will have some issues vs the guys who may have a short “span” of their hand but have long fingers to wrap around the football.

Third, you are linking a bunch of stuff that points back to guys with 9 inch hands. For me personally, as long as you can come in somewhere around 9 inches naturally, you are okay. But if you have 8 inch hands and need to pull tricks just to get to 8.75 inches, that’s a potential issue. For the most part, its rare for a QB to come in at less than 9 inches. So the data set is very limited. To me its just another box to check, not something to obsess over.

Gosder Cherilus has 11.75" hands. How did we not start this guy at QB?

6’1" Aaron Donald’s arms are… wait for it… short. Like I said.

You got a source for those crazy numbers? Because according to this site, the average length of an XXL is around 27 inches:

https://www.moderntailor.com/pub/index.do?action=measurementininches

Also, not sure why you’re using sleeve size as a metric anyway. It’s measured to the wrist, where your sleeve ends. NFL arm measurement includes the hand and is measured to the tip of the middle finger. It’s apples and oranges stuff.

Ah, the NFL does it different, of course. Thanks for that link.

I think your other link has the crazy numbers. I wear a 33" length shirt and I’m 5’10". Pretty sure about that.

Here are the D-linemen from the 2014 NFL combine.
There are 10 guys with shorter arms than Donald, and 7 of them are taller than him.
Check out the bottom of list (Kerry Wynn is 6’5" and has 31.75 inch arms.
Jadeveon Clowney is known for his long arms (34.5") and is 6’5" tall.

There are only 9 guys that were 6’1" tall or shorter, and 4 of them had arms that were 33" or longer.

Perhaps more importantly… only 3 guys on the list ran faster than Donald’s 7.11 in the 3-cone.
They were all DEs.
