It is Time For Hank Fraley as OC

I thought this year ago. He has a great assistant OL coach in place (4+ years now) and Hank knows how Dan thinks. He was a center and he is well-respected. He knows the game well, he knows the players well and would be a real asset as OC. He is the one guy who would enable Dan to retain play calling duties while prepping the O. I think this would be a popular move. Dan would trust him.

I would be good with it. Like the article says he got 2 interviews with Seattle last year. BUT if Campbell thought he could be a good OC why did he hire Morton? He had his chance last year.

Not going Noob w Fraley. No way.

I hope. I like him, but We Got Trucked All Year on the IOL. Flexibility/Adjustment score low. They gotta have a Dude.

The Seahawks were apparently torn between hiring him or Kubiak and opted for the latter. Worked out like gangbusters, but the fact that they were so keen on him is a good sign.

Right Thats2. Hank is seen as a viable rising coach by many. This move is likely a year late.

We ain’t gonna change what we have built at this point. We need the car to run better. Hank brings stability. Hank hasn’t called plays but he was an NFL starting center for years. I’m not sure there is a better choice than Hank.

Hank as OC with Dan calling plays and Scottie having some game management stuff added to his plate could work for me if we think Oliver is ready for primetime on the OL.

I’m confused. Are you saying you want Dan to keep calling the offensive plays?

Maybe. I also think Dan working with Hank to call plays would also work. Like Johnson, Hank was here before Campbell and has been here every day of Dan’s tenure in Detroit.

Hank stated out his coaching career working for Tanner Engstrand and then came to the Lions before Tanner did.

Just an interesting tidbit.

Don’t know if he still wants to coach into his 70s, but Bill Callahan is available.

TBH Brian at OC might not suck if Dan is calling plays. Supposed to be super bright.

Whether fans want him to or not it does sound like Dan wants to keep calling plays.

No disrespect to Hank but his oline kinda sucks, adding play calling aint gonna help

I don’t blame him, cause the oline was massacred with injuries but I also don’t think he needs any more on his plate

There were murmurs that Fraley struggled this year trying to be both run game coordinator and o line coach. He needs less on his plate not more.

I think Dan and Brad were caught with their pants down concerning Ragnow. They tried Ratledge at center and that didn’t work. We ended up staring essentially two rookies and veteran who didn’t really want to play center. Mahogany broke his leg and even Colon ended up missing multiple games. Ratledge and Mahogany both look good to me now,

I have no doubt that if we get better at center this line is okay. Left tackle likely needs a new starter. I think Hank has a mind for offense past the OL and he already almost landed in Seattle. Hank deserves a serious look.

That would smell of Marinelli …

Any plan that includes Dan calling plays, I cannot get behind.

He just needs to stay in Detroit

What has Hank ever done to warrant OC consideration?

I’m at the point where I’m not even understanding his ranking as the premier OL coach. He he good results when he had good OL. Who has he developed? Penei? Most likely successful with any OL coach.

I’m not saying I would want him as OC, or whether he would be good or bad, but one could also ask the question of what had Ben Johnson done before he was made OC?
