It’s not hard to drop a game. See Tampa
We outplayed Tampa and still lost.
Failure to convert in the redzone and turnovers are the quickest way to lose a game.
This team is the best coached Lions team I’ve ever seen. They play very good fundamental football. They are well balanced across the board. Sure we have some holes and weaknesses but the only glaring one is at edge. Currently we’re a little lite at LBer too. But every team has weaknesses.
Will the Lions run the gauntlet? Maybe…. but I’m thinking they only lose the last game of the season because they rest most of their starters after they clinched the #1 seed.
We may have it clinched before the SF tilt.
Most teams only wait to rest their starters for the last game of the season anyways…especially if that team is also getting a first round bye.
It’s probably not a good idea to let your starters go almost a month without playing real football.
Yes, and if you listen to the giddy, adoring national coverage of this team, it would seem we can’t be beat. But anomalous results happen every week. It could be weird bounces, tipped balls, a missed assignment, miscommunication or refs with He Hate Me tattoos. It won’t be effort.
Dan will have the team as prepared as a team on its 4th road game in 5 weeks can be for a winning team on a mini-bye. Sh*t happens.
But not this time, I hope, I hope, I hope…
Me too but this game worries me.
We’re facing a banged up Hou team but they’re still one of the top defenses in the NFL.
Meanwhile stroud hasn’t lost a home game all season.
This will be a tough opponent
Our boys love Primetime
Me too.
Hunter will eat, and Goff has been putting the ball on the ground when getting sacked. That’s their big opportunity to limit our offense. (So we counter with a tight end to double Hunter, but when they throw a linebacker on a blitz holding the RB at bay in pass pro, suddenly Goff has only two targets left.) Don’t know if they’ve got the personnel or planning to fool Goff in his reads of their coverages, but that’s how they could get picks.
But that all depends on them being able to defend against our run. I dunno, I feel better about the ground game.
Conversely, the Lions haven’t been defending the run very well, particularly on the edges. If Mixon eats, it opens up Houston’s passing attack. Arnold is still a rookie susceptible to mistakes and could be targeted. There’s an awful lot of attrition on defense.
And to top it all off, the Strouds have the Script Writer tied up in the closet.
