It’s Why I Refuse to Go to Many Games Anymore

It’s a pretty good gig. Have the taxpayers pay for the stadium and then price the average Joe out of being able to attend. Personally, I refuse to pay the prices for tickets these days. I have much better things to do with my money. Someday there will be a backlash. They are losing generations of fans can never attend live games. That’s basically where most fandom starts. Just tired of everything being a money grab these days. In 17 months I will be 62 and should be able to retire comfortably. I’ll be able to do that by not wasting money on millionaire players who may or may not want to play on a particular day. I would rather watch on hi def and then have the rest of my day free without fighting the crowds. Cheap beer and wings and the restroom is always open. Unless Work is paying for it obviously.

I agree bud. I will probably never see another Lions game live. It’s cool. Not concerned about it. Saw at least 20 games in my life live, mostly when we sucked. But I ain’t paying these prices ever again.

Some sports still have cheap nights and decent deals. Not NFL though

My daughter and son-in-law bought tickets for me, my wife, and my other daughter last year for my 60th birthday. Set them back over $2000. I told them never again. I appreciate it, but that is just wasting money. Luckily we won and it was a good game.

I’ve been to about 100 Lions games, but like you, I’m fine not going back.

I’ve been to a handful of live sporting events. I actually prefer watching on TV. I get better views, my own food, a private bathroom, and a very comfortable seat.

Although I’d still make an exception for hockey. Those games in person are wild.

If I get them free from work and it’s a luxury suite, hell yeah. Otherwise no. I don’t have any boys to take to sports and my girls aren’t interested.

I went to a game every year. From the time i was under 1 in 1992. Till 2022. The last game i went to was the season opener vs Philly. My Eagles friend from Philly said “wow lions tickets are cheap”.

ever since then Eagles tickets have been cheaper

Family of 4 cost.

2017 vs 2025

Lions tickets $100. ($400) vs $400 ($1600)

Parking

$20 vs $60

Beer (4)

$5 ($20) vs $8 ($32)

Combo meal (4)

$10 ($40) vs $13 ($52)

Total

$480 ($650 in 2026) vs $1744

So price have nearly TRIPLED for a family of 4 to go to a game. On top of inflation

But now i have a 72” HD tv at home with surround sound.

The key is your underwear. You wear the right one, we never lose again.

Wear the wrong one? Look out. Results may vary.
