I hate the Cowboys but I actually find Micah to be a very interesting guy. He seems to have boundless intellectual and experience curiosity which are traits that I revere.

Marcus Davenport has an intellectual bent as well, I remember him in an interview talking about a book I like and was suitably impressed.

You would think a Sumo would make a good nose tackle. You aint moving them. Linebackers dream to play behind a 350 pounder the oline can’t move.

Screw drafting Bromart… Trade up for Yokozuna.

That sumo wrestler probably has a good 100 pounds on Parsons. Just driving him back a little was impressive.

Sumo is too soft for the NFL.

Back in the early days of the UFC, sumo never won. “I’ve never been hit flush in the face before!” said one sumo after crumpling the first time he got punched in the face. Think he lost a tooth too.

Those MMA guys are crazy. Turn you into a human pretzel and snap your leg in half in 15 seconds vs an average build, untrained guy.

I enjoy the matchups when guys have very different styles of fighting. Like a chess match.

The purpose of sumo wrestling is to engage directly in a contest of strength. They aren’t trying to evade or get past the opponent. Parsons in this video is playing by those rules, too. But the contest between a pass rusher and a pass protector is quite different. So unless their foot quickness and agility matches their strength, they may not have any success in football.

As far as putting sumo wrestlers on the offensive line, I don’t think it would work because they are trained and built for short range grappling. Speed rushers would eat them alive on the edge and I think they would struggle to keep a DT with long arms from reaching for the ball carrier. You’re not going to beat a sumo wrestler with a bullrush however. Credit to Parsons for giving it a try and actually moving that guy back a little.

Sumo NT won’t know how to handle a chip block. Or change in play flow. No tackling ability.

Bad choice.

Well you gotta teach them how to play football. Some sumos are very athletic as well as strong.

This guy played a bit for Colorado State with zero background in football.
